He believed he could simply declare the pandemic to be a nothingburger, and so it would be. He has repeatedly been punked by the numbers though doing the thing he declared they wouldn't do. He obviously thinks the rate of the day is the new normal and that it's still at a level he can expect to hide, not understanding that it will keep accelerating. He still doesn't understand how bad it can really get. He thinks the brakes have been applied and that it's finally working for him; he doesn't understand that his grand reopening will just take that foot off of the brake and resume the death spiral.

He created a great economy. Just like if you got 10 new credit cards. Remember he couldn't even come up with his own plan at time - made Repukes write it. Any repuke president could have done that. But he took credit for it, over and over. It's what fed his malignant narcissism.

Now he wants to go back to his glory days. His key to reelection. So he's thinking if he doesn't talk about it, if he takes the task force off TV, opens up everything people will not know about the death.

Joe Scar's team did a fantastic job a few days ago doing this very same thing. I do hope Joe Biden's team, the Lincoln Project and others start and continue to do the very same thing as it is very striking and I'm sure very effective.

You saw a hint of it when trump threatened to sue pascale. He doesn't give a crap of anything except "his" money. He probably caught wind of the amount of money his campaign staff was spending and realized he wasn't getting his cut.

Those ads were just props to funnel money into pascale's pockets. They were never seriously going to have any impact.

Are making it a lot more likely we will be heading into the trump depression, caused by him and the Republicans. They are both dragging their feet helping, and that will have dire consequences. Soon, very soon it will be to late getting the people help, and it will be to late. Trump and the Republicans are sending us deeper and deeper into trouble, and I worry it's intentional for Putin from having them and trump so compromised from corruption.

he had going for him, and, in reality, that was not his accomplishment, although he took credit for it. Now he doesn't even have that. What's he going to run on? The number of children he put in cages? The number of farmers he drove to bankruptcy or suicide with his trade wars? The money he diverted away from pandemic programs in order to cover the deficit caused by tax breaks to the wealthy?

Even people who thought his general behavior, chaos, treatment of immigrants, asylum seekers, and minorities was appalling, were willing to vote for him because of jobs he took credit for but did not create. Without those jobs, there is no reason to vote for him. It was his whole image and identity - the rich businessman who could build jobs and economic prosperity. It was all a con but millions beyond his racist base believed it. The upward trend of Obama policies even made it happen.

And now it's not only gone, but he has no clue what happened or what to do about it exceptcwhat hw always does - project phony images.

If he had shown real leadership in the beginning, e.g. admitting how serious it looked and what safety measures to take according to medical experts, people would have respected him for it. Even with the shutdowns, people would have felt secure that it was necessary but temporary.

His bungling only made a bad .
situation worse, economically and medically.

According to reports, the WH has access to Corvid-19 test kits and of course Secret Service Protection which by default includes contact tracing.

In the case of the White House, contact tracing is more like contact history. If you are going to be near the West Wing they know WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN.
