Tyranny, the word right wingers love to fling around when claiming stay safe at home is slavery.

Tyranny is despotic abuse of power, period. Want some real examples?

A president learns that a deadly viral menace is about slam his/her country, decides to conceal this information from the very people whom the virus will effect. All in the belief that concealment will enable retention of his/her political power and reelection regardless of the impact on the citizens of that country.

A state government decides to not engage in viral testing and contact tracing so they can claim that they are unaffected by the COVID 19 virus. Endangering the citizens and potential visitors by not engaging in safety measures so that money makers can continue to make money.

A state Supreme Court justice (Wisconsin’s Justice Roggensack) calls meat packing plant workers “not regular people” because they work at a meat packing plant and have a high rate of covid 19 positive test results, apparently therefore they are dismissible, expendable or sacrificial. Clearly they can’t be considered as a source of possible viral transmission to the local community or the community to the meat packing plant.

A local politician threatens “Fraud” charges against people who refuse to go back to work when states “open up” again.

A Floridian governor decides to hide death rates due to covid 19 so as to not expose himself and his administration to scrutiny in their poor response to the viral pandemic.

These are examples of officials acting tyrannically, people who supposedly have the public’s interest as their foremost concern. Personal examples of tyrannical displays are abundant in this new covid 19 environment. Taking weapons of war to the state house to threaten the government officials in an effort to change policy would qualify. Refusing to use safe measures when out in public. Shooting private business employees for requesting compliance to those safety measures.

This obviously is a very incomplete set of examples. The point is that a government that intentionally refuses to act, fails to warn, falsifies information and conceals danger to the general public in an effort to enhance its own position is at best tyrannical.

Clear evidence shows that certain classes or groups of citizens Are more likely to be negatively effected by the current pandemic: the elderly, Hispanic and Black citizens are among that list. Knowledge of this combined with the certain government responses or lack of proper response might suggest a form of passive genocide. That is the ultimate form of tyranny.
