Billionaire Elon Musk threatens removing Tesla from California over ‘fascist’ coronavirus restrictions

May 9, 2020

By Agence France-Presse

Tesla chief Elon Musk on Saturday threatened to pull his electric car headquarters and plant out of California after local authorities kept him from resuming production due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately,” Musk tweeted in a long diatribe, characteristic of past online rants which are not necessarily carried out.

Musk made headlines just over a week ago with a different Twitter rant declaring that Tesla’s stock was overvalued, which sent the electric carmaker’s shares tumbling more than 10 percent.

Several days prior he delivered an expletive-laden diatribe during an earnings call in which he dubbed coronavirus restrictions “fascist.”

There's nothing more tiresome and off-putting than a whiny billionaire. Give me a goddamned break.

He pushed the eject button with that for me.

He might want to move his company to Mars where he can be the Grand Wazoo.

I'm sure conservatives will stop buying SUVs and pick-ups in favor of his product due to their shared concern for the environment.

60000 annually vs 60000 in a month. Yes, the common cold is worse...

But it's always interesting to look back and seeing the early warning signs even at the end of January. It was clear back then that it would be worse than the previous Sars outbreak. At least 2 months were wasted.

When he released that hideous truck.

Now it seems certain.

As additional evidence, he wants to saddle his new born child with a name that will haunt it for a lifetime https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/08/entertainment/elon-musk-grimes-baby-name-pronunciation-scli-intl/index.html

Seriously. He's misusing vocabulary like a typical idiot, but I note he's misusing to bash RW as in fascism, -- not liberalism as in Democratic protections for the individual.

No details, but the requirements were more onerous than the most stringent ever dreamed up by any other existing auto manufacturer - and that's saying a lot. Dealing with Tesla was a deciding factor in leaving that company.

nervous me thinks. China Motors will be rolling out a EV shortly at a fraction of the price of a Tesla. That is what is driving Boy to react in the way he is at this time.

Musk's threat is hollow at best. Reno/Sparks area can not support what he claims. Period.

Before a chinese car company breaks through in the US.

Once upon a time, Japanese cars seemed like a real outlier and now they control much of the market. When Korean cars came along, they took a while to get some cred but now they too have made some real headway.

I do think Musk is overstressed and it is making him crazy. He has made too many promises to too many people and the weight of them is bearing down.

and Indian markets and they have a mandate to eliminate Combustion Engine driven Autos by 2030. Notice Musk closed his China plant.

Something says,China is not Worried about the US market or Musk. First off,our Used Car Market has Collapsed. And with the Virus Damage to our Economy, the Tesla absorption rate just took a major hit. Looking much like 2009 and work out will take years longer this time around.
