CDC scientists overruled in White House push to restart airport fever screenings for COVID-19

The White House is pushing a return to its failed experiment in relying on temperature screening of air travelers to detect coronavirus despite vehement objections from the nation's top public health agency, internal documents obtained by USA TODAY show.

The discord underscores the administration’s disregard for science and the diminished standing of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at a moment when local governments, businesses and community leaders are seeking direction on how to reopen safely.

Recent emails show CDC scientists, who have begun owning up to initial missteps in the federal response, trying to persuade the administration to reconsider.

The White House directive to check travelers in 20 U.S. airports for fever comes after earlier efforts by the CDC to screen travelers returning from China failed to stop the global pandemic from reaching the United States.

From the evidence I have seen so far, it certainly looks like the Trump Regime wants the virus to spread and sicken and kill Americans.

The only benefits that I can see for dictatorial regime would be a country so weakened, sick and decimated economically, physically and psychologically, that it is more vulnerable and on its knees. That is reminiscent of the Republican mentality overall and the way workers are treated, payed, etc. The more desperate people and the more numbers of them, the easier it is to control and exploit them.

Disaster capitalism works exactly that way and I think that's the card they are playing. You can create a disaster or exploit a natural one, either way, the long-term is great if you are taking over a country for good.

There are also those presidential powers that Trump has alluded to. He wasn't joking and didn't make that up. There are a set of extra ones that remain sealed to the public and he knows about them and what they are, I assume. That may be his "trump" card when it tries to finish up his coup before the General Election. You can look them up. Under the worst case scenario conditions, he may intend to evoke them, so the worse this gets the better his chances, if my assessment is correct.
