General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have this recurring fantasy of a nation wide protest by senior citizens
We can have burn barrel fires where confederate flags and swastikas are burned.
Those of us who can still do it will take a knee during the National Anthem.
And to top it all off, the protest will be completely silent. No one will say a word.
We'll carry signs that say; I helped build this economy for 50 years.
Now pro-lifers want me to die for it.

(29,098 posts)They can blast Chopins Funeral March....I'm sure there must be a way to synch that to our car sound systems.

(10,885 posts)cohorts raiding Social Security. I wouldn't want to be in the way of the seniors' rolling (in wheelchairs) protests when the fund is drained for the likes of Chump's wall and other Repug un-necessities. Never underestimate the power of the gray haired.

No golf cart parades this year.
Seniors may not be as dull as some seem to think.

(51,589 posts)and after the virus came I got worried for them since their health isn't good and they love the social activities there. My friend said that the article I sent from the Tampa Bay Times was exaggerated and no one there is still having their large parties but no one is scared or worried about the virus hurting them. That surprised me.

(17,536 posts)When the virus issue was first being recognized as a really serious issue. The feeling that I got is that there were some who were really concerned and a majority that were pissed because they couldn't golf or eat out. I haven't been to visit the site for at least a month.
Most of the folks down there are people from the North that had the financial ability to retire to Florida. That group tends to be conservative, and some of them Archie Bunker conservative. I suspect that the ones that were liberal kept their mouths closed.

(22,114 posts)that the seniors are fountains of information, experience, etc. Some of these very same people seem to forget that seniors also have probably the most wealth of any class (being that we worked the longest, etc. already).
Perhaps before some people mouth off what a burden seniors are to society (in only their opinion), perhaps
maybe they should more closely at senior's contributions to our society and country.
We are your grandfathers, grandmothers, the old cranky neighbor next door, the white haired lady shopping at the 5 and 10 cent store, elderly parents, etc.
I guarantee you that all of us want to live forever (realistically this won't happen of course) and enjoy life to the fullest. No one has the right to determine who and who does not live.
The idiots that push forward suggestions of elderly euthanasia, I suspect, didn't come up with the suggestion of euthanasia, with their grandparents or parents in the room in the same room.
Isn't rump in his 70s already and is already starting to lose his mind? At what point should he be considered to be one of these seniors whose time it is, to go (voluntarily)?
