Nancy Pelosi's idea for 2020 DNC: Hold it in a large stadium over a single day

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a big idea for how to stage the 2020 Democratic National Convention in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hold it in a large stadium over one day, so that attendees are able to practice social distancing.

Pelosi aired her idea Friday night during an interview with C-SPAN. Pelosi said she has made the suggestion to Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez but admitted the logistics would be challenging.

The convention, scheduled for Milwaukee, has been pushed back from mid-July to the week of Aug. 17. Fiserv Forum is the main venue.

tests by then. Surely the DNC can get a few thousand, plus people will take it on their own.

Test posi, you are good to go after you also take a serum test for active virus and that is ruled out. Plus you will have many who had it and actually got sick to the point they had sptems and were tested well before the convention. They are also good to go.

People over 60 or so and/or in a high risk group due to comorbidity factors (I leave that personal choice in terms of cut-offs up to the individual) should be isolating anyway, IMHO, and not going to the convention if they have not had the virus. Nothing is going to keep them safe if they are out running around. Nothing except an effective vaccine, and that may be years away. Hopefully not years, as it would be hellish to be self-isolating that long.

7. WHO claim there's no proof of immunity and if there was how long it last. It's best to over test

... and make sure everyone knows on a daily bases.

Hell they have a "want a test get a test" process and 1hr feed back I'd be there myself.

Bunch of packed people in an enclosed space with no testing isn't good

you can catch it again. This is disinfo and FUD the same as all these varous 'OMG it's mutating!' posts.

IF there is no acquired immunity, the world is fucked until/if there is a an effective vaccine.

You cannot keep those of us who have already been exposed locked up until there is a vaccine, especially those of us who have a staggeringly low chance of death anyway (and I mean staggeringly low. The youngest 50% (so basically 40 and under) of Sweden has had 20 total COVID-19 deaths, ZERO deaths under 20 years of age.

There are around 61 (actually more as the numbers I have are from 2018) million people under 15 years of age in the US, and 10 total documented deaths in that cohort. Under 25 years of age (over 104 million people), 58 total documented COVID-19 deaths (48 plus 10) Under 35 years of age (over 150 million people) 375 total deaths (58 plus 317) Under 45 years of age (over 191 million people) 1171 total documented deaths (375 + 796)

99% of all COVID deaths here are over 50 years of age. 96% over 60yo, and 88% over 70.

In the US, the percentages are similar, 99.2% of all US CDC documented COVID deaths have come from the 35 years of age and over cohort, 97.3% of all US CDC documented COVID deaths have come from the 45 years of age and over cohort, 92.2% from the 55 years of age and over cohort.

You are taking an utterly extremist position by basically saying all testing is useless in terms of clearance. What is even the point of antibody testing if one follows your position that there is no guarantee of repeated infection? There have been over 4 million confirmed cases of XOVID-19 and zero solid evidence of re-infection.

Finally, you said

Bunch of packed people in an enclosed space with no testing isn't good

Complete non sequitur, as my reply was all about testing attendees.

According to your standard and many of his prospective VP choices would not be able to go either.
