Is Roger Stone ever going to jail? I think, at this point, it is obvious that he will never serve time. Convicted in February of witness tampering and coming remarkably close to threatening the presiding judge, Stone continues to roam free while he works on his appeal. Why are the prosecutors trying to hold any of the Trump crime family responsible? Taxpayers paid for a conviction of obvious law breakers only to see the system work in favor of those who curry favor with Trump.
Trump himself said General Flynn was caught lying to the FBI and now all is forgiven worse than that, in Trumps world and in the mind of his cult followers Flynn is now a martyr to be pitied for his mistreatment. He pled guilty but somehow that doesnt matter anymore.
So far, they are winning. The only way they lose is through the vote in November. Please do everything you can to remove this scourge from the White House.

Not that long ago someone here posted a story that reported he was living in a one bedroom apartment.

(1,384 posts)This how he's described on wikipedia. I think that lines up well with your summarization of him.

(1,384 posts)It does seem like the right kind of fame can lead to easy money, speaking fees, consultations, book advances, or TV commentary. I have a co-worker tell me years ago that self-promotion was more important that skill, talent, education and experience combined. It seems like people like Trump and Stone prove his point.

No pardon from Chump either.

(1,384 posts)Could he have used a bargain basement "Saul Goodman" and used his connections to skate on these charges? He was convicted. This was a success for the prosecution until Justice Dpt stepped in.

(32,610 posts)... but he's been raising money to pay lawyers for a long time.
I think he had a GoFundMe or something a few years back, didn't he?
And yes - it was a win for the prosecutors. He didn't beat the charges, he's just using a lot of delaying tactics that are working.

(1,384 posts)If they die...they can never reform. And reform of your opponents is the greatest political victory. If you supported gay marriage or legal weed before it was favored by more than 25% of the population, now you have a deep satisfaction of time proving you right.
I notice Trump's 2016 supporters fit into three categories: 1; those who are still vocally supportive, 2; those who are oddly silent on the subject, and 3; those who have turned against him completely. As of today I know not one person who fits into category 3, but I know they're out there. Seeing that group grow and flourish is immensely satisfying.

(1,384 posts)I seem to remember there was an issue with a judge that got irritated at his giving interviews and defending himself in the right-wing press. I can only guess that has stopped since I'm not much for watching those type of "news" outlets.

(1,384 posts)Prosecutors asked for 7-9 years for the triple conviction (obstruction, lying to congress, and witness tampering). Then Barr gets involved and he gets only 40 months. Now, he's working his appeal having never done ANY time. There's a woman in jail because she lied to get her child into a better public school, but this guy walks free.
I think it's more than not pissing them off, more like publicly worshiping. I have a feeling that Trump won't pardon him until his second term (oh cheeses, no) because it would hurt his chances of winning re-election (my heart...my pills...). Oh forget it. You get the idea.

(1,384 posts)If you're talking about Trump losing, surely he will pardon all his criminal conspirators on the way out.
If he's re-elected (urp...gak) he'll have no restraint and pardoning Stone will be lost in the avalanche of corruption he releases.
