30-million-plus jobs are not coming back by Aug 1. What is the plan for the unemployed?

By Aug 1, those now unemployed are scheduled to no longer receive the $600-per-week benefit the Feds are providing as part of the CARES Act. That’s a -$2400 loss of income, monthly, for millions of Americans, most of whom will have 0% chance at finding meaningful employment. For gig workers in CA, their weekly unemployment benefit will drop from $767 to $167. Pace Steve Mnuchin, how the hell can anyone live on $167-a-week in CA?

So what’s the plan? Do nothing and accept mass homelessness and starvation as just the way life is in America? Will we demonize the millions who can’t find work as “lazy freeloaders” based on the handful of people who land a McJob in Boise?

Really, what is the plan?

1. Chances are, they will punt and extend help past the election.

If they don't, then they are basically forfeiting the election. Expect them to grab everything that's not nailed down on the way out.

Either is a good possibility. It will be interesting to see what happens.

3. My $ is on them extending, but only after causing unwarranted angst and suffering.

They’ll do something in Sept or Oct, making it retroactive to Aug 1, most likely at a reduced $ amount per week.

In the meanwhile, a lot of suffering by those not drawing a Congressional or WH salary.

4. The Plan is Marshall Law to contain unemployed anti-Trump demonstrators

and/or an Iran wag the dog war. Chaos will rule in the fascist impeached Trump world as November approaches and he sees defeat just over the horizon imho.
