Trump targets Pennsylvania over coronavirus restrictions

President Trump on Monday backed Pennsylvania residents who oppose restrictions intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus in the state and accused Democratic governors of leaving such measures in place "for political purposes."

"The great people of Pennsylvania want their freedom now, and they are fully aware of what that entails," Trump tweeted.

"The Democrats are moving slowly, all over the USA, for political purposes. They would wait until November 3rd if it were up to them," he added, referring to Election Day. "Don’t play politics. Be safe, move quickly!"

Trump has previously expressed support for protesters demonstrating against stay-at-home orders, but the new criticism of Pennsylvania comes ahead of his expected trip to the battleground state this week.

He's a sick motherfucker.

He really thinks everything is about him.

I hope she shook hands with Stephen Miller's wife and wiped his face.

4. Several counties' elected officials are saying they will re-open their counties

despite the fact that the governor has ordered them to remain in lock down based upon the current data. Others are refusing to enforce the lock down.

Today Governor Wolf laid down the law and said any county defying his shut down order risks losing access to the discretionary portions of federal funding. He said obeying the shut down order was a matter of morality and politicians urging business owners to flout the governor's restrictions were putting their businesses at risk.

“These politicians put you at risk of losing your health department certification,” he said. “They put you business owners at risk of losing your liquor license. They put you at risk of losing your certificate of occupancy.”

He said the decision to open a business prematurely is “not only morally wrong, but it’s also really bad business.”

Business owners who go against restrictions will risk their liability coverage. State Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman said in a statement that many policies exclude coverage of businesses or people engaging in illegal acts or conduct.

Employees of businesses that open before they are permitted will receive protections, Wolf said. They can choose not to return out of concern for personal safety and continue receiving unemployment benefits despite their employer reopening.
