Tara Reades attorney is asking presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to authorize a search of his Senate papers for a complaint she reportedly filed around 1993.
Reades attorney, Douglas Wigdor, wrote a letter to Biden on Monday requesting the candidate immediately open up his archives at the University of Delaware and authorize a search to determine whether they contain any records related to Reade.
Reade says Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 while she was a staff assistant to the then-senator. Biden denies the allegation.
Reade said she wrote and submitted accusations of workplace discrimination and harassment by Biden as part of a Request for counseling form at the time, Wigdor wrote in the letter obtained by The Hill.
She has said she believes her complaint is in Bidens Senate records, housed at the University of Delaware. Biden said in an interview with MSNBC last week that he would not authorize the release of his Senate records or allow them to be searched for mentions of Reades name.

As many have stated this is a fishing expedition. Any sort of disciplinary papers would not be in Biden's personal documents.

(10,045 posts)His papers in Delaware are legislative, nothing to do with personnel, go to the Senate and both sign off for papers there. This is a trojan horse trying to find anything they can in his private papers. They can fuck off.

It does seem unusual that the MINORS would not have an interest in pursuing the accusations against the president as well. I guess that speaks to their interest in helping women. They only want to help the women who have claims against Vice President Biden.

It does not matter that there is nothing there, what matters is constantly speaking about the nothing so that the public associates Biden with Tara Reade.

(10,009 posts)Biden needs to release nothing. Demands will not stop with those records. They just want media attention to become like "her emails" was for Hillary. That is all the press asked about no matter how many detailed policy speeches Hillary gave or how knowledgeable Hillary was during debates (they even called her too prepared/too intelligent or some such bullshit).
Tara can wait a few more months.
Trump being elected despite unanswered harassment charges, catch and kill stories, and NDAs and gag order payoffs set the precedent for candidates being able to delay any actions.

(37,449 posts)and those papers are with the National Archives. They want to go fishing in his personal papers, speeches, etc.
Its not a record he would have if she filed a complaint, in fact a new system of filing a complaint was instituted in 1993. And it would have been passed along to the appropriate federal agency. Why wasn't she interviewed? Why weren't the employees in the office interviewed? Lots of questions, and she has no answers.
Subtitle D: Sexual Harassment - Sexual Harassment Prevention Act of 1993 - Directs employers (including Federal and congressional agencies) to keep posted in conspicuous places a notice prepared or approved by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that sets forth: (1) the definition of sexual harassment found in the Code of Federal Regulations; (2) the fact that sexual harassment is a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; (3) information describing how to file a complaint with the Commission alleging such harassment; (4) an address and toll-free number to be used to contact the Commission; and (5) other information required by the Commission.
