Article on vote by mail, that makes me stop, and ask,

It is a medium length read. Something is wrong with the page as I cannot copy/paste snips, and the comment link is nonactive. I read this article a number of times already, and I still view it as a projection from our "friends" on the other side.

From the references to Bush/Gore (Supreme court settling), To Kobach from Kansas stating that "fraud in VBM(vote by mail) occurs in a vast majority of states,except here, where I took measures to protect", to the point that many individuals, including Postal employees would be handling ballots.
The story made me pause, and wonder why are R's supporting this? are they projection what they would do? As Trump is quoted in the article from April, "Mail ballots are a very dangerous thing for this country, because they're cheaters"

As I said, the page appears to be glitched somehow regarding copy paste and comments. But, I would appreciate some of the views from those of us here, as the article did give me some pause on something I thought my mind had a grip on.

I come back to a thought of, R's cannot control millions of people who stand in line to vote, as easily as it could control hundreds of thousands of envelopes.

Maybe i am missing something as I am only on my first pot of coffee.

1. Mail in voting has been a thing in Oregon for 20 years

I’m completely comfortable with vote by mail.

I automatically get a ballot, as I’m a registered voter. I also get a voters guide which includes statements from the candidates and arguments for and against measures. My ballot envelope includes postage.

I can mail it or drop it into a secure county drop box.

Once the elections division received my ballot, they check my signature on the outside of the ballot against the signature on file. This used to be done manually but now it’s all electronically done. Once that step is completed, I receive a text that my ballot has been received and accepted.

The behind the scenes stuff happens just as it would if we were doing paper ballots on election night. At some point in the near future, my ballot envelope gets opened. There will be people from both political parties present to observe the process. My ballot will be placed with others in a machine, ready to tabulate the results. The results are tabulated after 8 pm on election night. Each county in the state does the same thing. I live in the largest populate county in the state; our results take longer to tabulate, usually overnight.

I have never worried about the integrity of vote by mail in my state. Never.

4. You are missing everything - R's, in the past, have strong armed state leg's to NOT have VBM

This year, they will have to accept it - 1) 70% of the people do not want to die in order to vote; 2) R's are on their way and if they look reasonable, they are hoping to save their position, trying to be pro-active, in spite of party edicts; 3) R's don't want to add the moniker Party of Death along with The Party of Putin, trying to save their party.

Oh well, too bad, so sad. Of ALL the things they have done in the past, R's will not be able to live down the out and out FUBAR response to not only this pandemic but also future ones.

Watch 60 Minutes from Sunday - Scott Pelley (?) talks to the Scientist who has been studying which bats and why bats spread so virus' so easy in China with years long negotiations with Chinese gov't to study in labs in China. Very informative. CBS has gone the Columbia Entertainment Channel the last could of years, but at least we can some even-handed information from 60 Minutes. Every other "news" program is hyperbolic feel good stories, in order to chew up air time from actual news. If you don't look good in HD makeup, out you go, regardless of your decades of experience.

We need a Mike Wallace for this Age. He would go up to the actual people being investigated and ask them fairly hard hitting questions. It used to strike fear in people's hearts when the words 60 Minutes is in the lobby asking for an interview. We need that now more than ever. Yes, I know, Social Distancing. We are resourceful, we can figure out someway other than internet tubes.

5. Vlad can make sure the electronic votes are counted "accurately"...

Mail in votes can be isolated by zipcode. The RePutican party knows which zipcodes will go to democrats. "Lose" or "reject" enough of them, and you have both voting options covered.

The turd just installed Louis DeJoy, his "barr barr of the DOJ", as postmaster general over the USPS. Not only will he try to destroy THAT huge union, he is also in control of those important stacks of mail-in ballots. He can easily find one knuckledragger maga humper in each post office to "assign" the task to. The question is, can they be so sly in doing it that NO ONE ELSE will know?

That is why I suggest $1,000,000 (+tax paid leaving net of 1M) rewards to ANYONE who can assist in finding and arresting those bastards who will try to circumvent the will of the people. And mandatory jail time for those guilty.

$1,000,000 is still a LOT of money to most people. It should be enough to shake some info lose. We wouldn't need to pay many rewards to discourage the rest.

We have billionaires, too. Do they care enough to provide the funding? Hell, Bill Maher could probably help raise the funding just from his millionaire friends...

If we make it obvious that we will be watching like a hawk, and will both reward and prosecute, there may be too few to help the turd illegally slime his way across the finishing line ahead.

Of course GOTV is vital, but we have to be proactive in every way possible.

Which is exactly how I waffled during the number of times I read it. this would bring me to the thought process that I was probably over-reading article each time. I appreciate the insights and sharing of experiences and first hand knowledge of VMB.
It a short, but informed discussion.
