Trump's Tax Returns
I don't understand. I remember earlier on, when the House wanted him to release his returns, many (if not ALL) legal experts were saying that Congress absolutely had the right to request AND receive them - for ANY or NO REASON at all. They simply had that right and that power. Now I know this is Trump and he makes his own rules but why didn't some court rule in favor of Congress's right under either the Constitution or the Rule of Law - whichever applies here.
It seemed to me that the experts were quite clear on this right of Congress, so I am confused why this is still an issue.

3. It's "still an issue" because Trump appealed all the way to the Supreme Court,
which has decided to consider the issue (prior court decisions went against Trump).

4. Trump will go absolutely fucking nuclear if an unfavorable decision is handed down by SCOTUS.
Trump's financial records and tax returns are his kryptonite. Every unhinged reaction we've witnessed till now will seem insignificant.

5. The bigger issue is the "3 equal branches" design of our government
When one branch becomes more powerful than the others, abuse will occur.
In this case, DFT wants to have absolute power over all other branches. In his mind there can be: * no auditing * no overseeing * no investigations If SCOTUS goes along with this, we are truly fucked. |
