Tonight I spent too much time reading posts from people, blathering about how THEY AIN'T A-GONNA WEAR NO GOTTAM MASK CAUSE IT'S ALL A BIG SCAM AND A PLANDEMIC FROM BILL GATES AND THE MASK IS JUST GUNNA MAKE YA SICKER'N THE VIRUS WOULDA, WHICH AIN'T NO WORSE THAN A COLD ANYWAYS, YA DAMN LIBRUL.

Shit. We're all screwed.

Some of these folks are going to come down with the virus, or one of their loved ones will. I don't wish it on them. I wonder, when it happens, if they'll make the connection. Probably not.

This is the biggest health crisis of our lifetimes. Not all of us will survive it, and those who do will live in a very different world. I just don't understand why anyone would wilfully defy the odds, would stridently refuse to do one little thing that would help protect their neighbors and loved ones.

It's like watching a bus full of people weaving crazily, careening toward a tall cliff, and trying to wave them off only for them to yell back "DON'T TELL US WHAT TO DO."

I always felt it was a generational thing that I missed by 25 years. Most of the family is on Facebook, but I never made the leap. Glad I didn.t...I'd probably would have off'd myself by now.

3. Just watched an interview with a doctor on MSNBC,

and he reported that today he saw only about 10% of people wearing masks in public, and he now has to spend an enormous amount of his online time just refuting stupid conspiracy theories. He seemed very angry and frustrated at the politicization of mask-wearing.

I have some short phrases I use on them as I hide them.

"Too fucking dumb to waste keystrokes on." Is my favorite.

I get a chance to debunk things. I get a chance to get news... news that I can research and verify. I can pass on and receive funny stories and memes that keep me sane. At this point, I can admire their grandkids and pets, too.

Perhaps it's because I taught high school history for 30 years, and I have a whole herd of former students among my FB friends. I've only had to shitcan a few of them. Full disclosure... I taught in an upwardly-mobile, relatively affluent suburb. The "kids" - by and large - were only annoying in that they wanted to go to college and be successful/educated... I couldn't slack off for a minute, and had to be on my game.... ALWAYS.

USE Facebook... don't be USED by it. Say what you want to say... back it up with facts, and if anybody offends you or is just to stupid for words.... shitcan them with extreme prejudice.

I am shocked a long time friend of mine is so ignorant and not heeding the warnings she thinks CV is a hoax and the rockerfellers, rothchilds and Soros are manipulating everything. She posted a breitbart link and I told her that website is meant to divide us. She told me they are truth tellers. Ugh!!!!!!
