(14,531 posts)I thought about putting in "watching your grass grow" but my spouse cuts it every 3 days, so I can't do that either.
I thought about washing the pollen off my front porch, but the birds have taken over and building nests. Hell one even built a nest in the grill of our truck because we hadn't driven it in over a month.

(1,586 posts)I have always done crafts but this is a new one for me. One of the people I am staying with is very good and has been teaching me. I took a little of my stimulus money and bought my own supplies once I realized I liked it.

I bought a starter kit including a tabletop easel at Michaels.

(12,904 posts)Its kinda cool to see one that I made five years ago. It happened yesterday, when I went to a birthday parade. One of the little kids (hes 5 now) was wrapped up in the quilt I made when he was born.
Its like seeing an old friend.

(14,531 posts)If I knew you were making masks, I would have bought a few from you. I still might, if you're selling. I bought 2 off ETSY yesterday. 1 for me and 1 for my spouse. I'm not sure if they tie or are elastic because the description was very brief. I also want them so the form a tight seal around my face.
They did have the features, I've been looking for...nose clips and a slot to put in filters. I ordered the polypropylene material and HEPA filters on Amazon to make my own filters.
Maeve
(42,282 posts)Just for Mom, hubby and me to get thru this comfortably. Mostly out of what I have around...old t-shirt material or bandanas, found some elastic tucked away in my seeing stuff. I figure masks will be a thing for months to come.

(22,037 posts)I've been doing all of the household projects that I didn't have time for.
For example, today I'm going to move a couple of tons of No. 2 stone from the pile at the top of my driveway to surround my music cabin. It'll take a few hours but it's going to be a nice day with temperatures in the low 60s.
I want to build new shelves for our kitchen pantry so that'll be my project for the end of the week.
Little by little, I'm getting stuff done! Miraculously, I'm able to still work remotely and that takes about 2-3 hours of each day.
mercuryblues
(14,531 posts)I'm doing a little of that each day. Gotta save something to do for tomorrow and tomorrow never comes. So, I'm good.

Heck, we even had a fire the last few nights. It dipped to about 50 and below. Mid May, in the South.

(3,266 posts)I picked up guitar so I could talk to musicians (former frequenter of blues open stages as a singer) more knowledgeably, and to help with song writing. I have very small hands, I cant do barre chords, so Ill never be a really versatile player. I have such varied musical interests, Ive not even thought of playing only certain genres. Just anything I can play well enough to accompany myself while singing - original songs especially.

(34,109 posts)I live in the country so there are rarely kids walking by and we are off the road anyway.
My son is living with us for a job (?) maybe soon so he thought his elderly mother might enjoy World of Warcraft. So that is what I am doing when not doing everything else. It is pretty easy at the beginning and I think I quite enjoy it.

(14,531 posts)Then went to Online classes, he brought his Xbox home. Unbeknownst to us he had purchased a used Xbox for school, from a friend. Now he had 2 xboxes in the house. The one he bought, he put in the family room and his friend say go ahead and use my Netfix account.
It took me days and a lot of eyerolls from my kid to figure out how to use the remote. Now I'm hooked.

(34,109 posts)when I was trying to play the newer Zelda games on the Wii. I could not get the hang of walking or running in a straight line or turning without running off a cliff. As slow as I went it just never felt comfortable. This is why he suggested I try WoW because using the keyboard and the mouse together made it feel more intuitive and he was right. I still run into rock walls and bad guys that kill me on the spot because I then get all flustered and end up shooting the wrong way. Actually I am not sure that is possible but I am too flustered to know, lol. I do like it and if I actually get into it he is willing to let me play on his game for a while. If I really like it I will get my own and pay for it like "all the kids do". I guess we are the forecast of the future. Old people playing video games. It certainly makes me pay attention more than puzzles do.

(34,109 posts)I remember hours of sitting on the floor with them as we learned the first Mario Bros. We played games together all the way through their high school years, although much less as they got that old. "Mommy, can you get me past this bad guy?". And now they laugh. 😜

Right about now, I bet she wishes for a meeting to go to.

(14,531 posts)As much as I hate graduation ceremonies, I hate not going to them even more. One of my kids just recently got her Masters degree. A few months ago I was dreading sitting for 2 hours for the ceremony. As I was watching her name scroll across my PC, I cried and got angry. There would be no hugs, no pictures and no party to celebrate her achievement.

(3,557 posts)Ive actually been doing this for years, but I had to take a break from it when I moved a while back. Now that Im single (thanks to my wife divorcing me), I have time and money to dump into my hobbies.
I also put up a wooden accent wall in my apartment to make everything look nicer.
The second picture is of a sump tank. You connect the two tanks and you can put all of the filters and heaters and junk you need for the aquarium in the sump so its not in the main tank in the living room. I also plan to grow algae in the second take as a nutrient removal method and to provide an area for super small animals called copepods to grow and flourish. These copepods will occasionally wander away from the algae and get sucked up by the pumps and go to the main display tank in my living room, which provides a nice treat to the fish living there!
The system is new so I dont have many fish in it or corals yet. As a responsible aquarist, all of my corals are grown and propagated from other captive corals. There is quite an industry of guys who grow corals and sell them. These corals also tend to grow better in aquariums than corals taken directly from the ocean.
My youngest daughter likes to sit there to do her schoolwork

(3,557 posts)I only have five fish, two shrimp, a sea urchin and handful of dwarf hermit crabs but I stare at it more than I watch TV. Ill slowly be adding fish over the next few months and Ill eventually have about 20 fish in there.

(25,332 posts)Weed whacking away at my Asian jasmine. It's been growing up against the house for too long. Too many weeds. My yard is full of plants, it looks like a cross between the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and a jungle.
I should have done this over the winter, but went to Colorado. Texas is really hot in the summer and I only do this in short bursts. It's too hot to plant anything.
Now I'm bugging hubby to hedge the boxwoods. I almost lost a finger with the electric hedge trimmer in 2016, so I've only manually pruned them, but it's alot of word.

(42,862 posts)... as I'm re-learning skills long forgotten, I now feel foolish for paying the kind gentleman at the dry-cleaners to make minor repairs in hems and cuffs and seams that had come apart. Over the years, I've paid him to mend things about a dozen times, and I could have done it myself and saved at least $100.
Out of sheer boredom, I'm looking for things around the house to mend or strengthen. (I've already made pleated masks for all my family members.)

I dontt steam the veggies, I steam the outside bag etc , then wash them with soap and water if it has a thick skin and soak in veggie wash.
