Here it says we are almost to 85,000.

The Johns Hopkins site seems to lag. This site is one of their sources.

...has a "Fire Pritzker" sign in the window of her shop.
A guy who lives at the far southwest edge of the township has a sign that reads "Heil Pritzker". This guy is calling a Jewish governor a Nazi.
Yeah, I'd say you're right about freak out mode.

This could have been a scary blip in both the economy and loss of life, if handled as Obama handled ebola.

19. We could have matched or bettered Germany, if we had a competent President.

75% of businesses in Germany were able to stay open. The country of 83 million lost around 6700 people to covid19 and is now safely fully opening, with no infection spikes.

Someone here on DU dismissed a comparison with South Korea, but I think the dismissal was wrongheaded. What South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Indonesia share in common is a mature leader that surrounded himself or herself with competent people and took a strong path of testing and contract tracing to reduce infection levels quickly.

Soon we'll have a fatality rate closer to Russia's, and then everything will be great.
