NO, HELL NO, AND FUCK NO
During an interview Tuesday with Time Magazine, the presidents son-in-law and senior adviser was asked if they had any plans to move or delay the election because of coronavirus, and he suggested they did: Im not sure I can commit one way or the other, but right now thats the plan.
But Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November under federal statute. It would take an act of Congress to change the date. In other words, its not up to the president nor Kushner to say when the election will be held.
And after former vice president Joe Biden warned that he fears Trump would find some way to try to delay the election, the president didnt seem so inclined: The general election will happen on Nov. 3, Trump said last month.
Its possible Kushner misspoke, since he later clarified he knows of no plan to change the election date.
I hope the takeaway for you is that it would be very difficult to postpone it. Plus, more and more, states are looking at how to hold their elections by mailed ballots.

(115,674 posts)the states have their own procedures. About the only thing His Lardship can do is whine about the election bing "rigged" - but he'll have to haul his fat orange ass out of the WH on January 20, when he becomes a private citizen, or he'll be trespassing on government property and the federal marshals will drag him out, or maybe wheel him out on a hand truck like Hannibal Lecter.

(7,947 posts)What's the plan? To delay?
These Trump people are so careless with their pronouncements. Of course, they probably want to confuse us.

(43,049 posts)change it without amending the constitution.
Also, if no one gets a majority in the EC, the House decides the winner from the top 2. Basically a couple of states could hold elections and give Biden EC delegates, and the House could declare him the winner.
The Feds have no authority to stop any state from voting.
