How is he going to get enough patrons to return those businesses, enough to turn a profit?
How is he going to protect those patrons from contracting and spreading the Virus?

(15,692 posts)I mean the bars were slammed the other day in one states. An ice cream place had people around the block in the other. Sunday mothers day brunch was packed in another. I think it will be feast and famine for businesses for awhile.

(11,996 posts)Who just dont care - selfish and/or stupid enough that they will go no matter what.
May not be enough to be profifttable, but he dont care about that either.
Dont forget - this is an ass who is making 1000 WP graduates come in together for a fewweeks at least just to give a speach (rally). He wants his sound bites.
Theyre still trying to figure out how to have a BBQ for them, and whether family can go.

(12,957 posts)a huge increase in infections and deaths, but not enough to recover from the covid depression.
By fall we will be in another lockdown and likely complete chaos from knucklehead knazis attacking local governments.
I dont see this ending well or ending anytime soon.

(10,266 posts)The next 2 weeks are going to report a spike in cases. It will take another 2 weeks after that to convince the state level powers that be that they actually need to lock everything back down and how to do that despite all the pissed off Karen's of the world. As before, these stay at home orders will be 'rolling', because trump doesnt have the balls to issue one nationally, but by July 4, we will be right back to where we were 2 weeks ago.
That's my prediction, anyway.
(On edit) if this goes badly, 250K dead by July 4th. Happy Birthday, America.

(23,061 posts)1 - he is delusional and thinks we'll all just pour in, we won't. 2 weeks after opening restaurants in GA, they were 92% empty - most people won''t go. If I worked in a meat packing plant that was refusing to retool to help us survive, I'd quit because otherwise I'd probably die or I'd give it to my sister and she would definitely die. So no, nothing is worth that and I suspect 60-70% of Americans feel the same. Let the trumpers die, not us, since they are determined that someone is going to die for their profits.

(11,884 posts)The American people will be screwed from them not nearly getting enough money directly to the people to help the economy. Trump will learn the American people aren't going out until they feel safe, and while trump is in office no one will . Why would they risk there life for this lying con man? He can't force us to spend. I will not go out, or spend except for certain issues that come up, but spending on Amazon and having delivery is all I'll do until he's gone .I'll for sure go out to vote trump and Republicans out of office, but not until he's gone in protest .I also can't go out because of my health conditions , and without adequate testing being done it's too dangerous. Trump caused this pandemic to be worse, was that his intentions for putins revenge on us? If Obama or Hillary were in charge we wouldn't be in this predicament now, and our economy wouldn't be spiraling downward into a depression, but under trump the trump depression will happen from trumps policies, inaction, and because they are intentionally dragging their feet , and don't want to help the people. The markets will crash, and the trump depression is coming. While trump will try to claim everything is great, lol. We heard W Bush do that too.

(10,621 posts)I think this is the elephant in the room that both the administration and Wall Street are missing.
Even if everything immediately went back to 90% of normal, that would still be an ongoing 10% contraction of business activity, which is worse than what we endured in 2007-2009.
Things are not good.
