One of President Donald Trumps supporters who gained viral infamy for refusing to wear a mask at Trader Joes now fears she has the coronavirus.
Genevieve Peters last week was asked to leave the California grocery, and employees called police, after she pulled a borrowed mask down below her chin, and Thursday she revealed on her Facebook page that she was experiencing some symptoms of coronavirus infection.
Yesterday I let you guys know that I had a sore throat and it was feeling like it was going into my lymph nodes, Peters said, and the reason I posted it is because I knew I had zero fear that I will be a statistic on the COVID-19. Im not saying I might not get it, I might get it. I mean, anyone could get it, right? I mean, its like the flu. I mean, Ive had the flu many times in my life, but Ive survived it.
The reason I put it out there is to show, if you start feeling symptoms there was zero panic, she added. Zero panic. Why? Because Im healthy. Healthy people can get sick, they can have a little bit of a cold or a little bit of a sore throat, and it doesnt mean the end. But heres what could happen: When you feel a little bit of a sickness and you panic, your body will respond to the additional stress.

Leave aside for the moment the importance of ensuring you don't become a vector for transmitting influenza. Saying you don't need the vaccine because you never get sick is like saying you don't need seat belts because you've never died in a car accident.
It's always, "me, me, me"

(16,616 posts)but it's interesting she mentions lymph node involvement, since that is a symptom that is not often mentioned in articles about COVID-19 or even long lists of symptoms.

(13,542 posts)They may actually have had a cold, the flu or bad allergies. Odds are they weren't tested. And some of them are lying.
I had some pretty bad allergies in March that persisted and gave me some kind of chest infection. Primary care people had me tested for covid and flus and all came back negative. When it didn't quit they got me a zpack and another covid test. The zpack knocked out the breathing issues I was having and the covid test done at a different facility was negative again.
Anyway, I think a lot of them are going to run around after getting over a cold and tell everyone they've had it, NBD and now they're immune.
I fear I'll have to be near any of them.

(64,963 posts)I'm sorry but there's sneaking evidence here & there suggesting it's been around much longer.
My suspicion is not just based upon symptoms.
Out of a population of 130, 19, adults & children, got sick with strong respiratory symptoms. 18 were diagnosed a bronchitis, 1 as pneumonia.
This all happened within 14 or 15 days.
14.5% of the people in that building sick with respiratory problems in 2 weeks is not wild speculation on my part.
I don't know for sure, of course, but it's a reasonable possibility. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but clearly something VERY contagious ran through that school.

The doctors in China seem to have figured out early on that they were dealing with something entirely new. Why weren't doctors in the US writing up cases of a weird viral pneumonia like nothing they had ever seen before? They picked up that the vaping illnesses were related when there were only a handful of cases, but they didn't notice thousands upon thousands of cases of Covid-19? It's frankly hard to believe that so many doctors were seeing this, and not a one of them noticed that it was like that virus in China that everyone knew about by the end of January.

(64,963 posts)We have thousands now!
What are you talking about?
Besides the experts believe the strain that hit here from Europe is the more aggressive version.
And, you're relying on the official version of Chinese activities as your basis?
Good luck with that sort of gullibility.
Besides, I said I was suspicious. I claimed not a whit of certainty.

(14,854 posts)I hope you're right. The best case scenario is if has already run around the country during the winter, miraculously killing so few people that it didn't cause any blip in the mortality statistics, and no doctors were competent enough to see that it was something new and different and report it. That would be wonderful if it was true.
