Taiwan's TSCM to build a $12 billion semiconductor factory in Arizona

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., or TSMC, announced on Friday that it plans to build a $12 billion semiconductor factory in Arizona, with construction to start next year. TSMC said the factory will create more than 1,600 high-tech jobs. It is expected to begin production in 2024.

The deal is a big win for the Trump administration, which has long been sounding the alarm on the semiconductor industry's reliance on producers and chip manufacturing done in Asia, calling the dependence a threat to national security.

What happened to his racist rants about Asians, yet He welcomes Asian Corporations?

He didn't like them till he needed them for campaign bragging points. 🤭

the ground, by yet again, another Taiwanese company...

What is this, a new business model employed by Taiwanese companies and the GOP? Obviously there are payoffs under the table somewhere, I don't have any evidence of this (payoffs), but w/ Burr and others recently selling stocks under the table to avoid losses (by dumping them on us instead), what do you think (illegal payoffs)?

... Foxconn has made these types of promises in other locales and then bailed. India, Vietnam, Brazil, all places where Foxconn has made promises and then walked away...

Even if everything had worked out this time, the so called jobs in WI cost more than $230K per job created.

etc.

TSMC will move from it's factory in Oregon to AZ.

The Trump administration has courted TSMC and Intel, Oregon’s largest corporate employer, seeking to bolster domestic chip production and blunt China’s aggressive expansion into the semiconductor industry.

TSMC said Thursday it will build its Arizona factory with unspecified support from the state and federal governments. Arizona is an electoral battleground and the Taiwanese company’s decision to build there could give President Donald Trump an economic win to tout to voters.

“TSMC’s plan to build and operate a $12 billion semiconductor facility in Arizona is yet another indication that President Trump’s policy agenda has led to a renaissance in American manufacturing and made the United States the most attractive place in the world to invest,” U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said in a written statement.
