Just needed a few small items for some siding repair and decided to try it out.
Ordered online, everything I needed in stock, said they will email when order is ready to be picked up.
They called me by phone 15 minutes later, your order is ready. Cool
Drove up to orange coned off spaces right in front, about a dozen spaces, all empty.
Called them from there and masked and gloved lady came out in less than 5 minutes with my order, handed to me and that was that, just asked my name and order #. Done deal.
Watched a steady stream of people going in and out, maybe 50% had masks. Lot pretty busy.
Sure beats walking around store and standing in line, maybe just the time of day and I timed it right, but it worked for me.

(278 posts)they emailed about 20 minutes later it was ready, drove up and called them, they put it in the back of the truck. Easy. Between that, Kroger pickup and my vet doing curbside services, I'm going to get lazy.

(7,527 posts)I believe they *might* be able to take a card number over the phone, but that likely isn't very secure.

(13,546 posts)grocery...the lady instead came up to the window and wanted to see my ID. After I gave it to her she handed me the items. Having to interact a foot away from an employee isn't much better than having to go into the store.
I shop at Lowe's over HD because of who HD gives campaign contributions to, but really they need to get their act together.

(10,133 posts)Let him or her know how much you appreciated the employees' work. In decently run companies, this information can mean a lot to the people on the front line - and hopefully translate into some bennies.

(89,247 posts)messages on the employee devices . You can hear the alert that the customer has arrived and to take the order to them.
This is something that is a nice alternative to shipping .
I think this is something that will stick around for a while . It's especially good for those who need someone else to pick up something specific for them that they may not be familiar with . Instead of trying to describe and having hte person go in and look around just arrange for them to pick it up curbside .
