The most corrupt President in our history is seeking to use the vast power and influence of that office in order to indict the most beyond reproach and squeaky clean President in our history. Yup, in his effort to get re-elected, Trump is going after Obama and trying to have Obama's administration indicted.
Why is this funny? Because Trump is establishing new precedent; former presidents are now vulnerable to prosecution for their misdeeds while in office. We witnessed George W. Bush escape any prosecutorial action after his administration pursued illegal acts of torture and lied our country into a war with Iraq. But Trump's actions are now making clear that former Presidents can be held accountable. And Biden has stated "no pardon for Trump". Trump doesn't realize he has just opened a can of whoopass on himself.
HAHAHAHAHA.

(18,105 posts)He would not interfere with the Justice Department. But Trump has bigger problems. All those Prosecutor's and Government Officials he has fired.
Revenge is going to be sweet for them, and we still have decent Judges in this Country.
Trumps Enemy list is a mile long, unlike Nixon.

(3,575 posts)I think he has a good chance to win, BUT, at least in my state, how this election will be held is in extreme doubt. I'm already seeing evidence there will be fewer polling places open and the absentee/mail-in vote is extremely spotty. If the heavily Democratic areas in my state have any reduction in voter participation then I would't be surprised if the election (in my state) is a toss up and gets decided on how well each party can get its voters to the polls or to mail in their ballot. And I know how (dis)organized the Democratic party can be. They have a lot of time to get their act together, but they have to take this seriously and get people in place who have proven they can get things done.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Trump refuses to recognize the election results or gets a couple of key states where votes are close to tip things in his favor via either the courts or incumbent Republican governors. The Dems have shown too much complacency and tendencies to "do nice" (bring a lemon to a knife fight) for me to consider this election as "in the bag" (even though by all accounts it should be).

He will need to be forced out when the time comes.

And, of course, this means that McConnell and rest of his crimial rethugs don't plan to leave either. And Barr will back them!

If Trump is not re-elected he becomes a private citizen at that moment.
Do you really think there are members of our armed forces who would volunteer to be court martialed for surrounding the White House based on the orders of a private citizen who isn't their Commander in Chief?
I know quite a few high-level folks in the military & what I hear from them is first, they're all tired of Trump, & second, there's no way officers would allow anything like that to happen.
We just need to GOTV & kick Trump out of the White House!

(867 posts)If anyone actually thinks that just because you are in the military you suddenly become protectors of the constitution you are dead wrong. Its a microcosm of the country in a more structured setting.
There are more MAGAts serving our country than you really want to know, Officer and enlisted alike. If their glorious leader gives the order you are going to have military vs military, cop vs cop, civilian vs civilian.
Its extremely dangerous for any of us to believe that just because the constitution says so that he will be removed. Hes not going to go peacefully and he has the allies in the military/law enforcement to put up a very ugly fight.

(7,365 posts)... he will be escorted out by the Secret Service (these guys are really tired of him, believe me).
Once he's out the front lawn, it will be none of their duties. If the FBI is there to pick him up to charge him with election finance fraud (like Cohen), they will arrest him.

(8,002 posts)I honestly think that Trump will not concede power in November. He will either cheat and win with the help of Putin - or - he will declare the result invalid because of God knows what - "democratic voter cheating".
I hope I am wrong.
