Anyone know of Technocracy.news?
A RW relative has been sending me articles from them, so I am skeptical but don't want to click the link.

1. "Technocracy.com" is for sale.
Doesn't appear to be anything at that site now.
Right-wingers though seem to have an aversion to anyone who actually has real expertise in anything, so it doesn't surprise me your RW relative is sending you anti-technology articles. To right-wingers, "The Market" will solve any problems that their version of "God" doesn't. Both are of course, entirely fictional. |

4. Oops.
I'm so used to seeing ".com" on a website, I looked that up.

5. me too
I do not recall seeing .news before. I am going to ask a tech friend about it. However, the site seems safe enough to visit. It seems to be run by a Green party member concerned about environmental global issues.

3. Hard to say- I have only looked into it
for about 30 seconds. I am a librarian- so interested in this.
First and foremost, the link- https://www.technocracy.news/ is safe to click on. I didn't see any evidence of virus' or problematic posts. It appears to be a new "news" source. I have never seen a .news URL, so this is new to me. The founders have their profiles up under the "About" tab at the top. One Green, and two Republicans. They mainly seem to be concerned with property issues in California. I am interested in what others see- like I wrote--spent about 30 seconds there. |

6. Is he or she conspiracy-minded?
The BBC mentions the website in an article entitled "Coronavirus: Fake news is spreading fast". They're pushing the theory that the virus is man-made bio-weapon. Someone also posted an article here the other day (subsequently removed) from the site which was a guest-crackpot's take on why wearing masks during the pandemic is dangerous and should not be done. The danger, it was suggested, came from snorting in a 'trapped' virus, sucking it into one's brain.

Another popular theory is that the virus was engineered in a lab and deliberately released by, take your pick, the Chinese or American government. Over on the Facebook 5G and microwave radiation group, an article from Technocracy News claims: "It is becoming pretty clear that the Hunan coronovirus is an engineered bio-weapon that was either purposely or accidentally released." |

7. Very conspiracy-minded. Into Q.
That was one of the articles he sent, that wearing masks is actually dangerous. He followed up with an email saying doctor friends of his don't wear them and are recommending to patients not to wear them.
