He was addressing the Obama generation. The graduating seniors knew Obama as president for most of their lives.

(12,380 posts)To me Eisenhower was always a kind of father figure because he was president when I was a kid. Yes, my folks were republican, but politics was never discussed so I never saw him as anything but a leader of my country, and things were pretty good. I think thats how most high schoolers look on Obama now, except those raised in racist homes.

would have a larger audience, he could take charge. People would be inspired.
