This is a dated (4 year old) article, but I think people need to be aware that we need to be worried about more than Trump. Virginia Foxx is 76 now, and I kept hoping she would retire. But, no...she has plans if reelected.
"Foxx reels off a list of possible targets: The billions doled out annually under Title 1 a Great Society program that boosts funding to schools serving poor students. The money is now considered a possible funding source for Trumps school choice plan to allow low-income students to select private or charter schools."

(1,207 posts)Winston-Salem, and Boone. That's what is so bizarre to me--- we should outnumber the Republicans in her district easily.

(8,573 posts)It is almost impossible for a candidate to compete with her due to that reason and the fact that it's enabled her to amass a considerable war chest for being a rep from the middle of nowhere NC. We haven't had a candidate that has had the name recognition, money or backing, and charisma to catch fire against her. Not all of her district's denizens are RWNJ's, and some of us are even long time democrats. It's amazing how little we see her here in my rural county, and even when she's here you have to be in the know and free to do as you plesse in the middle of a weekday to get to see her.
