Brilliant Anti- Gaetz Op Ed in Local Conservative paper - Tide turning??
we are, at a place in American history where an idiot from Niceville (local Florida Panhandle town) wearing a gas mask in the chambers of Congress can unwittingly lay waste to potentially life-saving scientific research in batcaves on the other side of the Earth. Is this a “Small World” or just a stupid one?
Yes, time will inevitably hold Gaetz accountable. Like all Panhandle politicians, his silly, short story will end soon enough. And eventually, he will go the way of all hucksters and be forgotten by the swelling numbers of younger souls who don’t know and don’t care what sort of snake oil he’s selling. ... Tracking the fecal traces of dishonest statements from government propagandists like Gaetz requires a science not unlike the virus-hunting ventures into Asian batcaves. What begins as cuckoo internet conspiracy theory morphs into a tweet from a congressman and soon flutters out onto cable television before erupting from the pursed pie hole of the American president. But who can spend all day tracking the viral origins of political dishonesty? Whether its novel coronaviruses or noxious lies from bloodsuckers like Matt “Bat Boy” Gaetz, who has the time or desire to go hunting in either literal or symbolic bat caves all day? That’s what we pay scientists to do. Until Gaetz lied about it. And the science stopped. …. when Gaetz’s diseased dishonesty is allowed to infect public policy, we best beware what’s ripening on the vine. https://www.pnj.com/story/opinion/2020/05/15/marlette-matt-bat-boy-gaetz-spreads-disease-dishonesty/5188990002/

2. For all I care, Gaetz can hang around long enough to highlight
the idiocy of his constituency. The House GOP is going to languish in the minority until the end of time.

7. Seems asking old people to die for the
economy may have not been a good strategy after all. Who could have known?Maybe it was shitting all over the military, the Navy most recently which is very big in P’Cola. Couldn’t have seen that coming either, right? All I can say is thank god they are as stupid as they are evil or we would be in much greater danger.

9. Wonderful writing. I'll try to follow Andy Marlette at the Pensacola Journal.
So many good points and so well told.
Too bad the subject is a drunken idiot who represents the current (r)epuglicons. |

13. That was well worth the read for the prose alone.
The condemnation of Gaetz was superb! Gaetz' opponent is Phil Ehr, introduced to DU here:

Some of those are familiar from JHB's toon posts.

Like Trump would have the slightest clue who Thomas Wolfe was, or know what he wrote.

"Like most Panhandle politicians, his short, silly story will end soon enough".
I kind of wish the term "Panhandle Politician" would catch on. |

be curious to see how effective it is in its home market. (Yeah, we know he's right, but do the people that live in that district agree?).

and I fully agree. Voters are going to have to wake up and look at more than what god these jokers claim is on their side.
