In my state (NJ), the governor has asked that flags be lowered to half mast to honor those lost to the covid pandemic. A very reasonable and kind of the least you can do if you have a flag pole at your home, business, etc. gesture that requires no effort and is deemed at all times to be a respectful act.
Please someone explain why without fail as I drive around that anyone who has a flag supporting the orange menace does NOT lower their flag to half mast (why they even have such a flag is a subject for another day)? Not one.
Just my informal survey when I get out to get some air in my area, but what on earth could cause someone to suspend their decency for people who did not ask for this disease, did not ask to die, did not state their party affiliation when they went to the hospital nor were they asked...
Seems to me that this happening tells you all you need to know about how nazis came to power...

(25,406 posts)It's "half staff", when it's a flagpole on land. Half mast refers to lowering a flag on a ship.

(1,206 posts)so I'm not entirely sure we're in NaziLand quite yet.
Perhaps gov's was just a suggestion, but enough of them out there to assume most felt it was a strong recommendation. Either way, no one with trump flag lowered theirs, not even the US flag so to me that's the indicator of something not so good with those folks.

(41,043 posts)I drove past a CVS pharmacy with a flag pole in front of the store that had an American flag at half staff, underneath that, a POW/MIA flag, and under that, the state flag. ??

(4,664 posts)They don't consider the deaths of liberals, minorities or the old anything to mourn. And the MAGAts that died, died of something else not the virus. No reason to lower the flag.

It's madness, we should be for each other, not against each other?
Pro Sports personifies/amplifies/exemplifies/glorifies this?
People paying a lot of $ to watch other people exercise and root on a team whose owners made the city pay for the place to play, what a racket?
Greedy assholes whomever they are will continue to covet/hoard cash and find out it can't buy happiness, but it can rent it? If you have too much already, why all the dickish behavior toward others? ASK THAT DEAR MEDIA?
