(15,067 posts)Those daily "briefings" (or barfings, if we're being precise) run waaaaay longer than Barack Obama's remarks last night. The whole show was epic BTW. Mostly because it was all about the kids! Ass Face wouldn't understand that.

Ha ha ha, poor widdle dictator-wannabe. His desperate attempt to destroy the legacy of a better person only served to remind us what it was like to have a grown-up in the White House. #OBAMAGREAT

(1,639 posts)His claims about its historic numbers were very sad given the visible open spaces to be seen at the scene by anyone with eyes.
Now, let's be frank. Obama's inauguration was bound to be better attended because it was a moment in history. Even people who didn't like him may have tuned in on their televisions to hate-watch.
This is not to belittle President Obama or his accomplishments, but reportedly even John McCain understood the historical significance of the election of the first black man to the presidency of the United States.
Of course, the accomplishments of Obama's election and his presidency are brought into even greater relief by those who disparage him for no other reason than his color.
Obama had to be twice as capable and effective to get where he did because of the social disadvantage of his color. Trump has had every social advantage, and he has not been even marginally effective.
Even if Trump were marginally effective, his impact on history will never be as significant as Obama's. So, of course, the little crybaby's ratings are lower. The people who love him do so because of everything that they hate. The people who love Obama do so because of everything that they hope for our country.
Hope beats hate in the ratings game. Even over the long overview of human history--much of which is ugly and disturbing--Hope always wins over hate.

(81,125 posts)It may take a long time - much longer than any of us would like - to climb back up out of the COVID pit. But it's going to take FAR longer to climb out of the donaldvirus pit - if we ever completely do. Unfortunately, with hate radio and Pox Noise and all its little spawn (OAN and the Sinclair stations) very unlikely to disappear, it's doubtful we ever will recover. Those entities gave that contingent a voice and forced a place at the table for them, and gave them and their TV quacks and happy-talkers and liars and propagandists and excuse-makers and their conspiracy theories the appearance of "legitimacy." And they are NOT going to be willing to give that up.
When so many people who don't like reality and don't want to face the truth are reinforce in that, and told that it's okay, and that it's good, and their so-called pResident gives it the thumbs-up from the Oval Office forcryingoutloud, then it's just bad behavior getting reinforced. And dammit, ANY responsible mom or dad knows you don't do that! You DON'T do that! You DON'T reinforce bad behavior! You reinforce GOOD behavior and discourage bad behavior.
