(39,120 posts)on the part of arrogant, entitled white women. Where's the "slur?" It's the women demonstrating the behavior who are being divisive, not the people pointing it out. Do what you must. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Calling a racist a racist will often result in violent (verbal and or/physical) and divise confrontation. They will most often squeal and rage in utter denials, or violently attack.
Karens will do the same (most are too passive-aggressive to actually physically attack unless it is a little child they think they can domme up on). Fuck 'em both. Bad is bad, evil is evil, entitled is entitled. Calling an actual Karen doing actual Karen things a Karen IS calling out the behaviour.

(34,215 posts)The origins of Karen as an Internet meme predominately date back to an anonymous Reddit user, Fuck_You_Karen, who would make posts ranting about and denigrating his ex-wife Karen, who he alleged had "taken" both his children and, later, his house during divorce proceedings. The unintentional entertainment value provided by the posts led to the creation of a subreddit in 2017, r/FuckYouKaren, to both compile a narrative and share memes about the posts. Since Fuck_You_Karen deleted his account, the subreddit has since refocused to memes about the stereotype in general rather than one specific woman.[1]

(42,674 posts)The Karen thing has been going around for a while now though, I also
know a couple guys named Chad One is aware of the internet usage, one was not.
Thing is, there was a small group of white women who compared to the Karen slur to the N word, which is not only ridiculous, but disgusting and racist as fuck. So I dont get worked up about it.
I also know a of women named Anita.
Who married a man whos last name is Dick.
She did NOT take his last name.
Its still kinda funny though, bet I could make a pretty good limerick about that.

(97,485 posts)Not all white people are a Karen or a Becky. Not all white people are wypipo. Some are and some aren't. It is not divisive to call it what it is. It is a sad fact of life that we have racists among us.

(97,485 posts)Wypipo are so abused. Boohoo. They are so oppressed
They shall overcome someday for all the beatings, the fire hoses and dogs set on them. They will come to terms with the lynching's for being black. Oh wait, they are white and will never ever be subject to that. They never were harassed for sitting at a lunch counter or a front seat on a bus.
My opinion, Karen's, Becky's and wypipo can fugg off. They are White Privileged people. Fact is I am white and ashamed of anyone that claims superiority over any race.

(29,919 posts)I have seen women get called Bernie Bros and the people most upset over Bernie Bro are women like my mom and non white people. Besides it is a myth.
There is hard data that shows "Bernie Bros" are a myth
A few weeks ago I penned a story for Salon attempting to qualitatively disprove the Bernie Bro myth by pulling from psychological theory and the nature of online behavior. To summarize my conclusions: First, there is a general tendency for online behavior to be negative, known as the online disinhibition effect but it affects all people equally, not merely Sanders' supporters. Second, pundits systematically ignore when other candidates' supporters are mean online, perhaps because of the aforementioned established stereotype; in this sense, the Bernie Bro is not dissimilar from other political canards like the "welfare queen." Third, Twitter is not a representative sample size of the population, and is so prone to harboring propaganda outfits and bots such that it is not a reliable way of gauging public opinion.
Now, to add to this qualitative assessment, there is quantitative evidence, too reaped from studying hundreds of thousands of interactions online that reveals the Bernie Bro myth as, well, a myth. Jeff Winchell, a computational social scientist and graduate student at Harvard University, crunched the numbers on tweet data and found that Sanders' supporters online behave the same as everyone else. Winchell used what is called a sentiment analysis, a technique used both in the digital humanities and in e-commerce, to gauge emotional intent from social media data.
(Snip)
.Given this data, what do you think of the "Bernie Bro" narrative about his online supporters?
Bernie followers act pretty much the same on Twitter as any other follower. There is one key difference that Twitter users and media don't seem to be aware of. Bernie has a lot more Twitter followers than Twitter followers of other Democrat's campaigns.

I'm open to voting for Biden because of Barr destroying the Justice Department but this disrespect for 5 years doesn't help. I hope the Biden campaign is less divisive than the Clinton campaign who I voted for.
