"SNIP.....
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has asked the Trump administration to fully declassify an unusual email former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice sent herself regarding Michael Flynn on the eve of her departure, Politico reports.
Through a spokesperson, Rice said she welcomes the release of the email.

(9,952 posts)this with a VP pick and I am finding it uncomfortable with the whole room being women.

(118,462 posts)I would love to see Pence say "Trump and his broad-shouldered leadership" to any of the VP candidates in a debate.

(130,714 posts)and I applaud it. Nothing remotely like a reality 'show,' but REALITY.

(9,952 posts)like one and said I didn't like it.
I like all the stuff he has proposed here lately, including so many other Democrats. I am not thrilled with a play he did with Sanders last week.
Biden is getting an A- with me. But I do not like what this feels like with professional women being considered for a very real and serious position. I have never seen Democrats do this with the Democratic VP pick in the past.

(9,952 posts)all awesome smart people. But if they do a dress performance, I am outta there,

(89,239 posts)is after he gets in office most if not all of these women end up in his administration if they are not already in public office.

(171,031 posts)This situation has never happened before, so "never seen Democrats do this with the Democratic VP pick in the past" doesn't apply. There's a first for everything.

(23,142 posts)All to gauge public acceptance of the choices. It was a reasonably effective approach, considering Carter himself wasn't a well-known quantity nationally. The result was Walter Mondale, one of the best VPs in history.

(26,045 posts)Pence is one of the few who really didn't, because they had to have someone.
This is SOP, and not Biden "looking" at a "roomful" of women.

(10,037 posts)I just think we should stop putting up names and let it happen. He has already said it will be a woman, lets stop the purity tests on his VP choice. It has to be someone qualified and he is comfortable with most of all.

(43,079 posts)Zero chance McTurtle and the Rethugs would even give Rice a hearing (Benghazi bullshit.) Biden would have to do a recess appointment, and McTurtle will never let the Senate go into full recess either.

(43,049 posts)greatly amused by the reptilian leader holding up a cabinet position.
Or trying to. His toadies are bending a little as it is. That could get them to crack.

(10,128 posts)a cabinet position - or all of them? Of course, Biden (if he is stuck with Moscow Mitch in charge of the Senate) could do what Trump has done and make everyone acting to avoid confirmation hearings and votes.

(10,096 posts)background. In my opinion Biden's VP choice will have to be a congresswoman, senator or a governor, someone who has won elections for both state and federal positions.
Susan Rice would be an excellent, though controversial, choice for SoS. Her confirmation would be difficult, given her history in the Obama administration. Biden could appoint her as NSA; National Security Advisor is appointed by the president and does not require confirmation by the Senate.
For what it's worth, my prediction for VP would be Michelle Lujan Grisham, the current New Mexico governor and a former US congresswoman. She's also of hispanic ancestry, a 12th generation native New Mexican. Sanders has stronger support among hispanics than Biden, Lujan Grisham could help Biden win in Arizona, Florida and Nevada, and could even flip Texas.

(118,462 posts)Trump's lax responce to the COVID outbreak? I know we are at 90,000 but canada closed down earlier in the curve than Trump and we have 1/3 to half the cases you have so i am estimating generously in Trump's favor when i say 30 thousand. Right now. Do you really think Benghazi will fly? Ambassador Christopher Stevens and his crew knew they were taking on a risky assignment. Hillary was not directly responsible for the actions taken that night and Susan Rice wasn't involved in coming up with the talking points she said the next day or so while still in the fog of war. A pandemic was clearly coming since february.

(6,143 posts)Why hand them an issue to attack. There are other choices than Rice who dont have that baggage.
