That's according to Erin Bromage, a University of Massachusetts Dartmouth associate professor of biology, who started a blog about the ways in which coronavirus spreads to keep his family and friends informed.
It turns out other people liked his smart, practical way of explaining the virus and risky behavior. His latest post, "The Risks Know Them Avoid Them," went viral and gained more than 13 million views in about a week.
Staying safe isn't just about hygiene and distance. It's about time, too.
The explainer illustrated how breathing versus talking loudly versus sneezing can put out different amounts of respiratory droplets in the air.

(50,901 posts)Once things are open, we can't avoid the situations and places he says to avoid.
He says assess the risks and walk away, but most of us will not be able to do that. Anyone who works in a school, office, hospital, small store, anyone who takes or works on public transportation, will not be able to avoid the most dangerous places.
This is titled "tips on staying safe as states re-open." It is more like, "explanation of why you probably CAN'T stay safe as your state reopens."
This video makes me more, not less, frightened about what the re-opening will bring.

(842 posts)Bromage was also interviewed last week by Brian Williams. At that time Bromage said, "Being around someone asymptomatic LONG ENOUGH - even if that person is 6 feet away - is dangerous."
It was a fantastic interview.

(53,726 posts)Sneezing is the most lethal though, particles travel at 200 mph across a roomno avoiding that. One just has to get the hell away asap.
