The election is within reach and I haven't heard anything from/about the NRA. Aren't they gathering

illegal contributions this go-round? Weren't they the ones that got all that Russian money, last time, and distributed some of it to Repukes and Trump? Is there a place to check donations, or do they keep them hidden until after the election?

The NRA has been awfully quiet, this year, and we don't want them to get by with more shenanigans.

Where has Mr. WellDressedontheNRA$? Is he still the head honcho?

I'd never count them out, but they are under intense scrutiny Mike 03 May 2020 #2
Thanks for the input. That is wonderful news and will surely help the Democrats win in 2020. Frustratedlady May 2020 #6
If they become defunct, won't another gun-crazed group just fill the power-vacuum? Aristus May 2020 #3

and financial stress.

Even before the pandemic the NRA was facing strong headwinds. It is facing increased regulatory scrutiny in New York state (where it is chartered) and increased public backlash for its positions opposing common sense gun control measures, especially after the 2018 massacre of high school students in Parkland, Florida. And beyond the outside groups that oppose the power of the NRA to influence public policy, the organization also suffers from internal divisions and questions about its leadership from breakaway groups like Save the Second, gun advocates who oppose current NRA leadership and are trying to reform the organization.

Hopefully, the organization is in its last throes.

I've lived through too many Republican regimes and don't think I have the stomach for one more.

There are millions of gun-crazies out there, and although they seem to spend the bulk of their income on guns themselves, they could no doubt contribute to a fledgling gun-crazed jerkoff club.

The point is, the NRA may be going the way of the Dodo, but the Dodos who constituted their membership are still around.

That maybe multiple splinter groups would form from the NRA and maybe they would stop any one of them from getting too much power. The NRA USED to be sane and was about safety and sport then they started getting political and were taken over by crazies once it had become well-established. Hopefully any other groups would face a long uphill climb to gaining influence.
