Hopefully people are safe. The dams are around 100 years old and I am assuming that they were likely not meticulously maintained if they were privately owned. I mean municipalities, counties, and states defer maintenance so I assume a private owner would want to do as little as possible.

Over safety concerns and it received a "poor" rating in 2018. The downstream dam was rated "fair" but it clearly wasn't enough to hold the deluge after the first dam broke.

because it's not glamorous like aircraft carriers and overengineered planes that the military didn't want.

At some point it's going to dawn on people what sort of con job has gone on since the end of WWII and when it does, there will be hell to pay.

From an airplane this evening. This is Edenville, on the Tittibawasse River.



There is another earthen dam 9 miles downstream that is now in jeopardy. I hear reports of 12,000 being asked to evacuate.
