What are medical doctors, researchers, and scientists saying about Covid-19? I will make my decision after hearing what they have to say. None of the other options are really qualified to determine when it is safe, imo.

I was going to write "when you make an educated decision based on your own medical information and research". I trimmed it down a lot.

without dependents, and taking a political position doesn't enter into it , we have no impetus pushing us out before experts believe it should be acceptably safe.

I heard that front-line workers would get first availability of a vaccine, with wide dissemination perhaps taking some months after.

The French national government, although my Department and commune can keep a lockdown going longer than the national one, if they choose. Whenever the status changes I get a text to my phone informing me that, and there's an app I've downloaded that tells me what level of re-opening we're at (currently we have to stay within 100km of our home, wear masks in any store or transit, and all restaurants must be carryout/delivery). Masks are available for free at the local elementary school, and if I feel sick a doctor will come to my apartment that day and administer a test for the cost of about $60. The government has been paying 85% of laid-off people's wages and making bulk purchases in important supply chains to keep suppliers from going under.

I'm incredibly lucky to be here, and I get enraged when I think about how crazy this must sound to my friends and family back in the States.

Hi, Recursion!

I hope your message goes wide and far! I know that what you are saying is true because I have traveled many times for art in France. Beloved Paris...

the CV.. I've been going out all along.. to essential stores and exercising.

The change would be when Visitors are allowed on the Island without being quarantined for 2 weeks and non essential shops, hotels, and restaurants open up again.

He's being so strict now so that can happen without a second wave happening.

afterall, 80% of people who test positive for COVID-19 don't know they have it and don't have symptoms. Unfortunately Federal Govt is a complete failure on leadership and plans. Reopening is not an option, but safeguards need to be universal. That is the problem.

People like myself and my wife who are in "high risk" are the ones who must avoid the virus as long as possible. The new paradigm of living in 2020 and beyond.

Summer doesn’t offer great stuff usually, but 4-6’ is just too good to pass up 2-3’. I could let go by but the bigger surf is also better because it makes the grome rethink things.

IMO we are going to be dealing with CV19 for a long time. We will all have to alter our normal lives to safeguard our own health and those around us. Those precautions will depend on our individual situations and the risks we feel we can take. Masking, social distancing, etc will have to become a way of life.

February at the earliest and when we open, I have to go back into a number of schools and hospitals.

In other words, a virus soup.

I wish I could say my own decision, but like most people I don't have that privilege.

that is madness

they are talking about this yet again on MSNBC right now

I have seen zero US doctors or health experts say you have to stay completely inside your house for the entire duration

you are far more likely to get COVID-19 inside than out, which is why you should be careful who you let in

people who have already had it are fine, as they cannot transmit the virus once they have completed their illness lock down period

Because I help my 89-year-old mother. And I've done some shopping for "non-essentials" but with a mask, washing hands, keeping distance as best I can. I listen to Dr Acton here in Ohio and look for the best advice I can get online.
This is the "new normal" for me and has been for the past two months.
