Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Houston reopened its doors on May 2, as the Lone Star State began loosening its stay-at-home orders.
But on May 14, the parish canceled all services after Father Donnell Kirchner died. Five members of the congregation tested positive for COVID-19, church officials said Monday.

(23,458 posts)It's amazing how delusional some people can be - even amidst this calamity.
Here's hoping other churches take note - but fat chance of that.

(31,261 posts)"cure" people from getting covid19. He is dead and hundreds of people that he touched during his faith-healing farce are out of their freaking minds with fear.
In my city, there are tone-deaf signs that started to pop up once SARS-COV-2 started marching all over the country, "Faith over Fear", in this case, that is the worst possible phrase they can come up with, maybe it should be "Prudence over Fear". Faith won't be what saves them if covid19 pays them a tough visit.

Child (nepios): Strong's Greek: From an obsolete particle ne- and epos; not speaking, i.e. An infant; figuratively, a simple-minded person, an immature Christian.

(3,684 posts)It makes no sense.
Clearly, low turn out Mass with all of their social distancing and mitigation efforts did not work.
My Church is setting up a way to deliver communion to homes. I get that it has been too long and that it is needed. They need to pray for a better answer. Love your neighbor and Jesus would not spread disease.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
