He really doesn't care that the nature of services has people touching one another, opening their mouths to sing and pray and aerosolize, like a garden hose, virus. A full church means people are closer than 6 feet. So does a half-full service. Collection plates are giant petri dishes. Passing the Peace should be renamed Passing the Plague.
Our bishop has instructed our ministers to wait until at least mid-June before having services corporately because they recognize the rest among the churches' demographics. Good on them for thinking about us first, even though donations are down.

Or maybe he just wants to open the whole damned country "right now" and doesn't have the brains to see what is going to happen.

It is the respiratory droplet/airborne aspect of this disease which makes me so incensed about people's stupid selfish reckless behavior. If they were only killing themselves I'd have exhausted my indignation a long time ago and just adopt a "go ahead then" attitude.
The "damn the consequences, we're going to church services" position is morally equivalent to suicide bombing, imo.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
