that come from other places that creates the problem. They pack the restaurants, hotels, and stores. They will spread covid far and wide.

When we day trip to the beach even before the pandemic we never setup within 10 feet of other families.

It’s when the beach goers crowd into restaurants and hotels it becomes a huge problem.

I feel as safe on a beach in the sunshine, a breeze and upper 80 degree temps as I do at home. But I will not go out to eat. Or stay at a beachfront hotel.

Of course living here we avoid the ‘tourist’ beaches like the plague. Pun intended.

In a few weeks we are staying in a west coast fishing village in a studio apartment with boat slips. For 3 nights. We will cook all our meals in the room or on a propane cooker I bring to fry fish. We will easily be able to social distance. We can’t afford it now being furloughed but paid for it before the pandemic. 3 days out on the gulf does wonders for your mental health.

The beach can do the same. You just have to be careful.

5. I wish I was close enough to do that area in 3 days. But it is 5 hours pulling the boat.

We like Anna Maria beach for a beach trip. But for fishing we normally do Crystal River for anything less than a week. A full week; Saint George Island.

We plan on retiring on the Forgotten Coast. Help turn a red are a little more Blue!

Where did you grow up? Tallahassee?

6. Yep. My home town. The panhandle was for fun. I miss what it used to be before the Condos.

As a kid I remember fishing with nets over our heads and gloves on our hands for the black flies.

We have been spending at least a week every year for the past 25 years on SGI. Own a lot in the town across the bay from the island. It has not changed that much. More houses but they have kept out the high rises. The fishing is still world class.

If you haven’t been in a while you should plan a trip. It’s still magical in October.
