North Carolina has been a case study of both admirable and stupid recently. But, in a pretty red area of western NC, my trip to Ingles was a pleasant surprise. Still doing 1 way aisles and distancing. All employees masked. All shoppers masked. I expected to see a visible relaxation of safety, but did not. So, there's that good news for the day.
That, and the big bottles of Lagunitas Imperial Stout for only 3.50!

(23,292 posts)Still the occasional asshole with no mask, lingering at the checkout, lingering at the lotto machine: "Oh, and give me one of those Wild Time. Oh, and give me 368, 50/50. Oh, and give me 2267, straight. Oh, and give me 1177, oh and give me..." This, after handing the cashier a list with 30 numbers on it.

(22,035 posts)They have big signs at all the entrances that face coverings are required. They have an employee near the front door: no mask, no entry.
They've been awesome in keeping the place disinfected by wiping all surfaces all day long. They've been able to keep almost everything in stock, except for rubbing alcohol and yeast!
Anyone who doesn't wear a mask in public is an ignoramus.
And like Trump, they're an idiot.

(3,816 posts)I've only been seeing about 20% of customers in stores wearing masks. The staff is all wearing masks and they have one way aisles and checkout markers. The people seem to be acting like it's all over. A few weeks ago it was at about 60% of people wearing masks but that was as high as I saw it. Granted, I only am at a store about once every 7-10 days. Case numbers at this point are very low but I don't think things bode will for this area in the long run.

Social distancing is marked for the checkout lines but ignored by some.
It hasn't really arrived here yet, but when it does, we are in big trouble.

(5,801 posts)Yuma (SW corner of AZ, also ultra-red) had the highest rate of increase in the nation.
Now, who knows? I think douchey started hiding the numbers.

(12,265 posts)He also said most were not social distancing. The staff were all masked and behind plexiglass which is good. This Oklahoma, they love his worthless ass down here.

(24,284 posts)masks in all indoor public places. I haven't really been out shopping since, so I'm not sure what the compliance is. Until then it looked like it was obvious that pretty much everyone under 40 seemed to think they were immune to the disease.

(6,589 posts)Every employee at every restaurant & retailer I've been to recently has a mask on (takeout from about 6 restaurants over the past few weeks, plus BJs, Publix, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, & NAPA Auto Parts).
