Trump is leading us toward a second Civil War. And many want it.

Six hundred thousand Americans died in the Civil War between North and South. Nonetheless, it seems to me as though a second civil war is creeping up on us. Trumpers vs anti-Trumpers. Republicans vs Democrats. Good vs Evil. We've just ended the Memorial Day weekend. How many more do you want to memorialize?

The Civil War, regardless of the rewriting of history by many, was about slavery. A second civil war will be about … what? Trumpism? Democrats vs corrupt Republicans? Good vs Evil all over again?

The Civil War had geographic boundaries. A second civil war would be neighbor vs. neighbor. The outcome of the original Civil War led to the KKK, Jim Crow, and a racial divide that still exists to this day and makes black people, in the eyes of many, including our pResident, somewhat less than human.

So where would the horror of a second civil war take us? A post Armageddon nightmare? A “Mad Max” world? Total obliteration? It sure as hell wouldn’t lead to a “perfect world.”

Wingnuts would love nothing more than to wipe out all the “’librul,’ ivory tower, ‘commie luvin’, blue state, ‘faggot,’ wimps” in the world. And we liberals would love to see all the slimy bigoted, malicious, fascist bastards, unleashed by Trump and the Republicans, crawl back under their rocks.

But here’s the thing. Talking about another civil war is one thing. Very few Americans have ever seen war up close and personal. I’m not talking about the movies. I’m talking about war. General Bone Spurs would be safe, but no one else would be. And anyone who survived the first battle would never want to see another one. Ever.

Yet, here we are, with many on both sides seeing a possible second civil war that could be triggered by, say, Trump refusing to leave the White House after a loss, or a Republican loss of the senate, or for a dozen other reasons. But regardless of why, it seems like a version of insanity that could come to be.

To put this as bluntly as possible, if Trump, and many Republicans are going down, they want to take us all with them. And there are many Dems aching to fight them to the death because of this. But that's something we can’t allow to happen. We must stop it before it goes that far. There may be skirmishes to come in the not too distant future, but we can’t allow this to drag us into an all out civil war. That must avoided at any and all costs.

President Franklin Roosevelt was faced with dealing with “America Firsters” during the 1930s. These were people (like Charles Lindbergh and many of the super-wealthy) who favored siding with the Nazis (but shut their mouths after Pearl Harbor). Today, we are dealing with American fascism being led by our pResident. And the way to shut them up is with the ballot box. That won’t be an easy battle to win as they will cheat every inch of the way. But a massive turnout of countless millions of us can and will beat them.

Some may say I’m being naïve here, by thinking we can outvote them. But trust me on this. It’s far better than the horror of war that too many, on both sides want. So crawl to the ballot box if necessary. It's preferable to crawling over dead bodies.

And then north east through South Carolina was intended as an act that would be remembered for a century. So the confederates and their descendants would not challenge the United States militarily again.

War is hell.

First, the Confederates LOST THE CIVIL WAR. They will not rise again against the U.S. Government because they cannot afford to do so. The Federal money they receive far exceeds their tax contributions to the nation. If your civil war were to become a regional dispute, those states would not continue to get money from D.C. They'd be bankrupt.

Second, and more importantly, how would the two sides be divided? Our country is big and complex and most communities are made up of such a tremendous variety of people and ideas. What would be the battle lines and how would the forces against the U.S. be organized? Given the integrated nature of our economy and society, I don't see how we divide into "us vs. them."

One more thought: The banks, Wall Street, career politicians & lobbyists and the 1% really don't want to have our country come apart. If it did, they'd lose far too much.

Diamond commentary on Bloomberg this AM pretty much said the same. And as he said, this Virus is our Civil War and we are not learning anything. He was bashing Companies for doing Buy Backs wit the free money coming from DC. People are not that dumb, and they see the same info as we do and will act accordingly.

He's got a large following of a very cult like origin and he could literally tell his followers anything, and they'd do it. I could see him after the election saying "Take to the streets! Celebrate your president!".

What I think. Trump is a megalomaniac sociopath who is a modern day would be Hitler. The republican congress could have thrown this evil menace out during the senate trial, but they were too stupid and or gutless to do it. Too many of the american voters don’t realize how dangerous this guy is. I wouldn’t be worried about a civil war, but I would be worried about people being shot in the street by a modern day Gestapo and SS if he gets elected to a second term along with being shipped off to concentration camps and gas chambers, ovens etc. This character is major league bad news.

This one would be Yugoslavia times 20.

Street to street, house to house. There would be political and ethnic atrocities.

Meanwhile, outside of the US, there would be an extreme economic depression as the US dollar goes into the shitter.
