Mercifully people cannot get insulin without being diagnosed as a diabetic. That's one shortage I definitely don't want to see.

(34,060 posts)Insulin does not require a prescription, and part of what triggered his comments is the escalation of the price of insulin (which - coupled with his idiotic brain dump) might well make this life-saving product unavailable to the people who can't live without it).

There are a number of varieties of insulin. Some require a prescription, but the basic insulin does not.
