Michigan lieutenant governor: Trump preparing to question legitimacy of results if he loses election

"We need to be ready to respond to that forcefully," Garlin Gilchrist tells MSNBC

Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, D-Mich., has accused President Donald Trump of sowing doubt about November's election months before voting even begins in an attempt to question the "legitimacy of an election that he is looking to lose."

Gilchrist criticized Trump for pushing debunked conspiracy theories about voting by mail after the state sent absentee ballot applications to every registered voter amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I think that the president wants to set us up so that there can be a conversation about the legitimacy of an election that he is looking to lose," Gilchrist told MSNBC over the weekend. "That is a really unfortunate thing. That's not how we do democracy here in the United States, and we need to be ready to respond to that forcefully."

Trump carried Michigan by fewer than 11,000 votes in 2016 before Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer won her election by more than 400,000 votes in 2018.

"The president is insecure about his prospects in the state of Michigan, and this president has shown that when he gets insecure he chooses to attack instead of getting to work," Gilchrist said. "That's not how we treat any kind of situation, whether it's a pandemic, whether it's a once-in-a-500-year flood, whether it's getting more people to the polls or more people to be able to vote safely in the state of Michigan, we roll up our sleeves and get to work."

The majority of Americans (by 3 million) didn’t like the results but we accepted them. The results of the coming election will be much greater than a mere 3 million.

If he needs to be "escorted" by our military then so be it. As of Jan 20th Trump becomes a mere citizen, not the Fuhrer anymore.

According to a very persuasive essay in The Atlantic (https://www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/archive/2020/05/qanon-q-pro-trump-conspiracy/611722/) Q Anon followers are direct descendants of the nutty religious groups which predicted the end of the world, and when it didn't happen did not lose faith but rather felt their faith strengthened. There is concern that Q Anoners will kill their own children to protect them from the Apocalypse that will surely follow a Trump defeat, and there will be no reason for the faithful not to commit mass murders and destruction. They may not have the numbers, but they have the guns and the crazy faith. It's a very well-written and persuasive article, especially for folks like me who have no clue about what all the Q Anon brouhaha is about.

Plus there is no paywall. Thank you, Atlantic.

But it's important to get this idea out there into the public discussion. Get people's attention, and have them scrutinizing the balloting for any irregularities. It's possible the Republicans have overplayed their hand, which isn't unusual. But we might be able to inoculate the public mind against their lying alarmism, which is unusual.

Maybe pull federal reserve funds out of the markets he has them now propping up for him, causing a crash for him to claim then it was from him losing, when it was intentionally done. He will continue to find ways to hurt us , war, expose secrets to Russia, infiltrate agencies for his own use, or for others.
