By Travis Gettys
A right-wing militant was fired for hanging Kentuckys governor in effigy during a lockdown protest and his wife is furious.
Terry Bush, president of the Kentucky 3 Percenters militia group, lost his job Tuesday with Neil Huffman Auto Group after he was photographed and recorded hanging Gov. Andy Beshear in effigy before demonstrators gathered outside the governors mansion and demanded that he come outside, reported the Courier-Journal.
He was fired because this governor is more important than the regular Joe out in this state trying to put food on their tables, said his wife Patsy Bush, who is the militia groups secretary.

Here's how sorry I feel for poor Patsy Bush:

(17,471 posts)is that he had the right to hang the effigy, and his employer had the right to fire him for it.
My heart breaks for the poor mistreated guy.

(83,654 posts)Sure Patsy, this country has a long history of good old white boys like your husband that were always eagerly willing to "string up" a black man. Then cowards for not claiming responsibility... 'Weren't my idea darlin', I just be helpin' in a neighborly sorta way.'
Glad he was fired.
If your husband hung it he owns it. Stupidity is no defense.

(11,725 posts)As children is is often difficult to manage your emotions and make the best choices about your behavior. They will often annoy each other and fight but then want to play together and miss each other as they are very close. I tell them that they need to take a step back and think about whether an action will make things better or make them worse. Now I know (from being a kid myself) that often kids cannot do that so mom and dad are the first line of defense. We give them consequences to their poor behavior that maybe will be sufficient to have them take that step back. "Hmm...last time I pulled my sister's hair, I wasn't allowed to play with my Nintendo Switch for a day and that sucked. If I do it again, it will be 2 days". And so on... When they go to school they can miss recess, they can go to the principal's office, get suspended, or even expelled. As they get older the consequences can become more serious. You can get tickets and fines, have your license suspended, go to juvenile hall, go to jail, go to prison OR... you can lose your job, wife, family, friends, etc... Bottom line, if you do not control your behaviors then others will try to control your behavior.
This guy thought it was a good idea to hang a likeness of the governor in effigy. That is a right that he has through the First Amendment, that his government cannot really stop him from doing (unless it creates a public safety issue) HOWEVER, his employer can certainly see what he is doing (through media or social media, or if he was arrested and it became public record) and decide, "Hmm... this guy is out there protesting public safety measures, acting a fool, and stringing up the image of a popular governor. That is going to cost us business and we don't want to be associated with that" and then fire him. Funny thing is if he was working a Union job, he'd probably still have a job today.
Actions have consequences. If you are not prepared to suffer consequences for your actions, then maybe don't do the action. If I believe that I am doing something righteous and I am willing to suffer whatever consequence may come, then I would just shut up and take the consequence knowing that I did the correct thing. Right wingers always like to play the victim though. Always whining about consequences for them doing stupid shit.

(28,344 posts)First, I taught him the meaning of the word "ramification".
Then, I told him he would encounter uncertain times. When that happens, I asked him to momentarily stop to THINK what the ramifications would be if he did choose to do something - whether alone or with friends.
After thinking, and knowing what the ramifications might be, I told him to then ask himself "is it worth it?" A good example is drinking and driving.
Son is now 31, and he told me recently that still today, he follows this lesson. He said it has kept him out of some jams. That made me happy to hear.
It doesn't matter whose idea it was to do the effigy hanging, that couple was there enjoying the protest, and the husband CHOSE to be an active participant. Shame on them. It's too bad he lost his job, but there was a ramification to the choice he made.
I wouldn't want someone like this working for me, either - even if it were a liberal hanging Donald in effigy. To me it's vile and violent, and is something you'd see barbaric men in other countries do. We are suppose to be civilized.
I enjoyed reading your post.

(11,725 posts)We do have to be consistent. As much as I completely dislike Trump (I must admit that I love the Diaper Baby Trump balloon) hanging or burning an effigy has really violent symbolism and I would not want to associate with people who did that either.
I have participated in protests, especially in the last few years, but I would not participate in burning or hanging an effigy or breaking windows or the like.

(3,145 posts)1. Many companies have policies in place to get rid of an employee who brings embarrassment or disrepute on the company, even off the clock.
2. Its hilarious to see so called conservatives whine about at Will labor laws where the company doesnt even need a reason to bounce this dude.
3. If hubby has time to go to rallies then he has time to drive for DoorDash or Postmates or Instacart. Delivering shit sucks but its money.

Peas in a pod, as they say. Sorry, my dear Patsy. When you act like an idiot, threaten a sitting Governor, you get what you get. It's all part of the FREEDOM gig. The responsibility part, that is.
