There is such a thing as "willful stupidity".

It takes about one minute to check and find out that Covid has killed more people in 3 months than flu usually does in 2 years (and there's no end in sight, while the flu season is now long over). Also, while the flu's death rate is about .1%, Covid's is more like 3% -- 30 times worse.

They know that, or could know that. The way they stay a Republican these days is to studiously avoid knowing anything that is actually true.
