If they were going to announce arrests today, they would have started with that, instead they started with "we thought we would have some more news for you, but we don't"
Not good enough...Not good enough.
Edited to add link to press conference.

(5,639 posts)You or I would be in jail.
The cop should be in jail, pending the investigation.
Tonight will not be a good night, people will not go quietly into the good night. Not at all.

(12,310 posts)They are begging for help like they don't have probable cause to make arrests.
So fucking sick of white privilege.

(5,639 posts)There is ample evidence of wrongdoing. Asking for more is bullshit.
They keep mentioning peaceful protest, yet it was a cop who provoked the looting by smashing windows. There is video of it. I downloaded the video of the agent provocateur because it keeps getting taken down from youtube.
Some asshole speaking just said there is evidence that supports not activating a criminal charge...wtf?
I must have heard wrong...I sincerely hope I heard wrong.

(26,044 posts)...not just because they have no problem with black people being killed, but because they're hoping for more unrest/rioting/looting in the days ahead, so they can send in the troops and "crack down on the troublemakers," earning them the gratitude of middle-class white voters (who may be in favor of racial justice, but only as long as they themselves aren't put at risk) everywhere.
You got it right.
The cop should be in jail with just the video evidence alone, the investigation can be pending while he is in custody.
Tonight will be mayhem, they are whining about needing more evidence....fuck that, arrest the cop.
Then continue the investigation.

(7,447 posts)they have loads of probable cause. Arrest, book, and then do the investigation. Just like every other case is done.

(5,639 posts)That one guy with the dangling mask is pissing me off.
He said they have evidence that may not warrant an arrest. "The question in my business is is it criminal..."
I need to calm down.

(16,616 posts)That officer committed a murder that took nine minutes, surrounded by people telling him he was killing a man, and anyone with a computer or smartphone can view it from several different angles. You can see the moment when George Floyd goes from alive to dead. You can also see that he didn't resist arrest. He begged for his life and they killed him.

This will only incite the flames of revolt. This is not going to go well at all.
Tonight will not be good. I hope I am wrong.

(58,785 posts)"justice," of course, which places satisfaction of the mob above all.
Cayugafalls, I don't admire your completely unsupported declaration that not rushing to immediate arrests means that none will occur.
If some people don't like waiting for investigation of crimes and weighing of law and evidence, that's just the way it needs to be. Far better to frustrate anger than to appease it by joining the Republicans in their determination to destroy our centuries-old principles and practices of justice that frustrate the passions of the moment.

(5,639 posts)Thank you for parsing my OP and pointing that out. My apologies for missing that word of clarity. I will edit the OP.
What I am saying is that had the roles been reversed and this had been a black man with multiple white witnesses and video of him kneeling on a white man's throat (let's take the badge out of it), and thereby crushing his throat and killing him, I feel he would have been arrested on probable cause, pending an investigation. It is his badge and color of his skin that gives him privilege, in my opinion.
But I am not a lawyer. You are probably a lawyer or at least know more than me, so there you go.
Were I not in Texas, I'd be peacefully marching.
