Our money is so decrepit, it's easy to counterfeit and hard to tell the difference. roamer65 May 2020 #5

The business owner knows and has never had a problem with George. He also said that he did not know if George knew the $20 was counterfeit.

I only know because I have years of experience with money.

I have even got a bad bill. That one time I didn’t check. I just threw it into the passenger seat when I got the change. An hour later I noticed.

Apparently they accepted the money and did not realize it was counterfeit until after the fact. I have been in line behind customers before that tried to use a bad bill and the cashier just rejects it and the police are not called.

Also, George was still hanging around instead of scooting off which to me means that he likely did not know it was counterfeit.

...and people wouldn't know if they had one.

There's most likely a lot of bad bills being passed unless one knows what to look for.
