(36,962 posts)I only know because I have years of experience with money.
I have even got a bad bill. That one time I didnt check. I just threw it into the passenger seat when I got the change. An hour later I noticed.

(32,825 posts)Apparently they accepted the money and did not realize it was counterfeit until after the fact. I have been in line behind customers before that tried to use a bad bill and the cashier just rejects it and the police are not called.
Also, George was still hanging around instead of scooting off which to me means that he likely did not know it was counterfeit.

There's most likely a lot of bad bills being passed unless one knows what to look for.
