Unicorn Riot's live stream, they got inside the police station when the first broke in. And when they first set the fire, bullets caught fire and were going off. This is the craziest thing I've ever seen. He is now saying they broke gas lines in the building and are trying to blow it up!

(24,737 posts)I lived thru Watt's and Flint, and Detroit, but I and most of us didn't really get it it beacause, there was no immediate coennection. Now, a few cell camera's can invoke emotions within hours of posting. That's the new reality and, hopefully, the impetus for real change.

(36,203 posts)The interviewees on Unicorn Riot have spoken well even in the heat of the moment.
And they're getting this nation's leaders attention.
Let the National Guard kill any of them, and the older generations will join them.

(3,339 posts)And you know, my dad said the 60s were worse.... Maybe for comparisons sake, each generation relates to incidents from when they were younger and the feeling they had at the time. I sort of remember 92, but I was just a kid then.
This time feels different.
I can tell you, if they don't arrest those cops today, it's going to be worse tonight. And in multiple cities.

(53,410 posts)started off as demonstrations until Nixon sent in the National Guard or the riot cops and they got violent. The entire country saw them as they also saw the police attack peaceful Black marchers during the Civil Rights peaceful marches led by MLK jr. those were very, very ugly, and the entire country rose up in outrage and propelled the need for the Civil Rights Act passed by Johnson.
Both of those, just like in this case, started because of the abuse of authority and the systemic suppression of minorities. This incident might be what it takes to unite people behind human rights for everyone. The entire country, including Trump and company, are watching this. Maybe the entire world is watching it too. I hope there wont be any more violence.
All they had to do was arrest the police officers. All Trump had to do was immediately jump on the pandemic problem. We all saw it coming weeks in advance as we watched it spread across the world towards us.
Its been a very bad year by leadership. None of this needed to happen and it wouldnt have if the leadership did their jobs.

(10,281 posts)I dont think its going to go completely off the rails (yet), but having the orange shit stain occupying the WH doesnt help. He seems to get a kick out of people fighting. Even if he doesnt really care about whatever it is, hell happily throw gas on the fire.
For what its worth I dont think trump is all that racist. He doesnt care about anyone but himself. He hates whites as much as he hates blacks. Or rather he just sees himself as better than anyone.

(5,652 posts)Unicorn Riot is a decentralized, non-profit left-wing media collective that originated online in 2015. The group is known for reporting on far-right organizations and sources of racial and economic injustice in the US. The non-hierarchical media organization operates in the US cities of Boston, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Philadelphia. They produce live streams of political rallies and protests and are funded by viewer donations

For perspective though, over 1,000 buildings were burned in the LA Riots.
