Trying to lie their way out of their stupidity isn't going to fly.

I doubt they have received a lot of training on interacting with the press or media. They're not working in their usual context.

That does not excuse their stupidity, of course. It might explain it, though.

statement about Minnesota State Troopers. They are not well-enough trained in such situations, which are out of context for the jobs they perform, which is primarily highway traffic.

The news team was released soon after being arrested - most likely by someone who understands the rights media have.

The only group less qualified than the Minnesota State Police for crowd work during protests is the National Guard.

from a state DL or ID is the same skill set they would use to identify a member of the press by their press credential.

Fairly rudimentary training is all that is required, if any at all.

Arrest is not punishment, they will say.

Yes, they should have checked credentials. They did not. Again, they lacked training in dealing with news media.

They aren't hapless victims in this. They aren't poorly trained personnel needing a refresher course.

They are trained to lie.

Most of this could have been avoided by a quick arrest of those officers. They did not do that. Thus, we have the disaster we are now experiencing. And now it is too late. Arresting them now will not convince anyone to stop doing what they're doing.

Very bad decisions were made.

They were late, in the first place, probably because they couldn't agree on what to say.

Then, they came out and said nothing but bullshit.

A very poor performance by all of them.

The violence, etc. is all taking place in commercial zones. My residential neighborhood is about as far as you can get from any such zones while still being within the city limits of St. Paul.

So, here's where I'm staying. I've been watching live YouTube videos and Facebook Live videos throughout all of this. It's chaotic, but you can get a good picture of things using those outlets, if you know how to find the live feeds.

I hate seeing this kind of thing happening in my city and in Minneapolis. It's very, very disturbing.

If the press as a watchdog gets silenced and arrested, you better take notice.

He showed it to him. As did his cameraman. The white CNN crew was close by and not hassled.

HE DID SHOW THEM!
