With so much death and misery swirling like a hurricane around us, I'm in a dark place today.
The pain and suffering is mind-numbingly soul crushing.
To go from the COVID-19 deaths, the daily fear for the life of my spouse that works in a mental health hospital and sister who is a ER nurse and now to the brutal murder of an innocent man by Minneapolis police and the resulting civil unrest, has put me at the limit of what I think my soul can bare.
Getting this off my chest helps and I just need to walk away from the TV for awhile.
I am so very sorry for my fellow DUers in MN and everywhere else, please stay safe and be well.

(8,684 posts)Thank you for caring for unwanted and abused horses.
My aunt has taken care of horses...and goats...pigs and so many others my entire life.
Live on the other side of the country now but I love going out there and walking among the animals and rubbing them down and caring for them

(15,220 posts)You get to live there???? Oh, count me very jealous! Its a beautiful place.
I dream of having a sanctuary for homeless animals. Thank you again for your devotion to these horses. Are there other animals there as well? I saw a dog.

(15,068 posts)My house is about ten minutes away. It's a very special place. We have other critters out there too. Two dogs live there full time, plus a few of the volunteers bring their dogs (well behaved, of course) out. We also have wonderful barn cats. Last year we took in three completely black kittens (Wednesday, Olive, and Dave) and they are so cute! Good ratters too. In the spring, we have owls nesting in the rafters. To keep the numbers of pigeons and rats low, we don't trap or kill them - we are an animal sanctuary after all - we put out birth control. It's been very effective.
If you're ever in Southern Oregon, please come out for a personal tour.

(38,304 posts)There's no cable, no satellite, no broadcast television in our home.
Best of all, no commercials.
There's always something to watch on DVDs and Netflix.
