Walt Disney World received approval from the state of Florida to reopen its four Orlando-based theme parks starting July 11.
Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will open first on July 11. Then, Epcot and Hollywood Studios will follow on July 15.
Disney submitted its reopening plans on Wednesday to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force and received an endorsement from Orange County Mayor Jerry Dennings shortly after the meeting.
Upon reopening, visitors and employees will need to wear face masks and undergo temperature checks prior to entering the park. The parks will also require visitors to purchase their tickets in advance of arriving to the parks.
Additional hand washing stations will be added around the park and social distancing measures will be put in place at restaurants and in the lines for rides.
The company is suspending parades and other events that would cause crowds to gather. Contactless payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay and Disney Magic Bands will be encouraged.
All existing dining reservations, including Disney dining plans, have been canceled through the end of 2020. New ones can be purchased closer to when parks reopen and the booking window will shift from 180 days to 60 days.

(31,261 posts)It seems to me there are more substantial things than a reservation to think about. The company should make good on any advanced money you paid, though.

And the shit hitting the fan is only going to get worse.
Entire cities will be destroyed by global warming, worse pandemics will come, wars will destroy nations once thought stable... but the show must go on.
Billionaires are depending upon those who survive to support them.

(26,146 posts)It won't happen. Those masks will be litter in no time. Plus, many children with sticky hands and the adults accompanying them will be touching everything, including the ride grab bars, all day long. smh.

(31,261 posts)I noticed a local restaurant today that had cars backed up into one lane of a two lane street today. That wan't what got my attention, the place sells good fried chicken and is busy every evening. What got my attention were knuckleheads honking their horns at the people in the line, as if dismissing them for not going inside (I live in Florida, so seated dining inside has stupidly been reopened).

(11,949 posts)Are canceling thinks like fireworks and parades and greatly limiting capacity.
Plus will have special Social Distancing teams in the parks to enforce the rules.
They are doing what the entire country should have done since March.
If they truly enforce their rules it will be a good example of how to, as safely as possible, run a business. Like Costco has done.
Time will tell. Its still over a month away.
