Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed alarm over an anti-lockdown protest at the state legislature, but President Donald Trump sided with the protesters, calling them "very good people." He called on Whitmer to negotiate with the demonstrators. Hundreds of demonstrators, some of them armed, were objecting to the Governor's request to extend emergency powers. A number of them even entered the building and demanded to be let onto the House floor.
