They just showed the National Guard moving in, then protesters all taking a knee with their hands up, all silent. Then tear gas started coming in.
The reporter is right in the middle of it.

(29,685 posts)Of course, it took away from it that a bunch of the people were holding up call phones to self-document, but oh well.

(5,276 posts)Not sure why they would descend on CNN? CNN, like MSNBC, have been sympathetic to their cause and not sympathetic at all to that racist thug policeman who killed that poor man.
They arent helping their more that just cause.

(58,785 posts)rookie Nick Valencia, said nothing about CNN when asked why they were there, just brief words about having to have change. Other reporting said a couple thousand protesters were in the nearby area, and that as police confronted them in other directions some moved toward CNN Center, which had been empty to that point and thus relatively unprotected.
I far more hoped than expected that some smart people were accusing CNN of electing the Republicans who protect and enable police murders, but apparently strictly wishful thinking.

(26,168 posts)The window breaking, etc. didn't happen for quite a while, which makes it unclear just how it got started and the motivations of those who did it. I wonder whether somebody who doesn't approve of successful peaceful protest didn't show up and take action to change the tone.
